Gentlemen.
I've been on the look out for a UK Navitimer (in/around £2k) for a few weeks now without success. I now see that Andrew Michaels is selling a very nice Skyracer - mmmmmmmmmm??????? I like it. Never really considered that model previously.
Give me your opinions - should I stick to my search for a Navitimer or perhaps divert my attention towards a Skyracer - not necessarily the one which Andrew has for sale, or maybe yes?

I would keep hunting a Navi. The Skyracer is my favorite watch from the Professional Range, but the Navi is my favorite watch from Breitling.

I LOVE my Skyracer. Incredible accuracy, beautiful dial (you can't look away) and a conversation starter. Looks great on the Pro II or rubber.

They are such different watches, I don't know how you compare them. Get what moves you. It isn't uncommon to start out looking for one model, then find something else that you like more.

Bottom line, we really can't help you - it has to be your call based on what you want. IMO you can't go wrong with either (typed wearing a silver dial Skyracer on ProII).

These are so different watches. So difficult to answer or help with a question like this. It's really a personal choice. But, both would be a must have for me.

You've asked probably the toughest and most personal question you can as Tomcat and sharkman have indicated; one which we really can't answer for you.

Price aside, which one 'speaks' to you more - there's your answer. You can always buy one now and the other at a later time also. I also think it's a positive that they are so different from each other as owning both will provide some variety.

I would have to say go with the navi. I love the World and was lucky enough a month ago to finally purchase my 1st Breitling, which was the Navitimer World. It is a very refined watch, killer looks and holds it value relatively well considering.

The Skyracer is one of the most beautiful watches ever made by Breitling, especially the black dial on SS beze and braceletl. imo.
The 44mm is just the perfect size. :)

I've got a silver dial Skyracer on steel bracelet, and love it. Works in almost every situation with the possible exception of formal black-tie type occasions. Works with suits/work dress, though a little BIG to be ideal with cufflinks etc. Awesome casual/relaxed watch and suitably man-ly IMO.

Navi would probably be at least as versatile and more dressy if a little less macho. More iconic, definitely. Would probably be more costly too, right?

Ultimately it's taste and how you'll wear it. I'll concede I do plan on getting a more dressy/restrained watch sometime, perhaps an IWC Portuguese. Navi might get you round that problem....(if you can call contemplating an IWC a problem!)

In all seriousness, enjoy the 'consideration' phase and don't rush it.

PS I'm not a fan of the rubber-bezel phase - steel all the way for me.

PPS Have you looked at the SOH range? That's worth considering if you're looking for a versatile Breitling that dresses up and down, IMO.

Cheers!

I went Skyracer first followed by the Navitimer, not so much by 'design' but by what was available as a good 'value'.

In hindsight, I'd still do it the same way given the choice and opportunity again....esp given that stainless steel bezel sky racers are becoming more and more difficult to find, replaced by those ugly colored bezels.....
