Aww gees... man that sucks... I don't know what to say... and I know some of your vintage pieces are truly irreplaceable in a sense... I'm sorry for that... hope they catch the bastards...

Experience on the matter has taught me that the chances are really slim, if non-existent.

Unless, of course, if the Aussies have a more capable police than ours, which it shouldn't be that difficult.

Thanks for the kind thoughts everyone. Not many people outside this forum can understand the frustration of losing the T/O and 818 especially.

Yeah, pretty low chance of recovery. Most house robberies in Australia (like everywhere i suppose) are junkies. The likelihood is that they took them to their dealer and exchanged for drugs. Pawn shops are very rarely used here for stolen goods because of regulation.

I'll certainly keep a look out on the bay in the small chance. In the mean time it'd be great if you could have a look at my collection at...

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=32435

There are a couple of things to note about the vintage watches that make them pretty identifiable if you see them on the web.
The Chronomat 818 has black hands which were not original (the serial number dates it to 1970).
The TransOcean had unusual hands too. They are not the normal square ones (the serial number dates it to 1975).
The Cadette has some marks on the dial that would be easy enough to match (The serial number dates it to 1950).
The Sprint has an aftermarket blue band and some of the paint has come off the hands.
The Aerospace is the Repetition Minutes with the italic numerals and is on an aftermarket Bob diver, not the original bracelet or an OEM diver.

Not much hope of recovery, but all the same. in the meantime, assuming all is well with insurance I'll be posting some threads considering new purchases. Already dreaming of a Blackbird and a Navi  and who knows what after that???

Well I said it before: i live in a really safe suburb. But we got robbed a few months back and today someone broke in again. All the Breitlings are gone. The 1950 Cadette, Chronomat 818, Cal 12 TransOcean, Vintage Sprint, Aerospace and the Skyland. All gone. I was however, wearing the SOSF. They're insured but the 818 and Cal 12 are pretty hard to replace. Family is all fine which is really all that counts. Moth and rust destroy and thieves break in and steal.

I am really sorry to hear that, Novacastrian. Hopefully your insurance will cover enough to help you track down the rarer timepieces that were stolen.

Wow, that sucks. I was just reading on a golf forum about a guy whos car was broken into and all of his clubs and gear was stolen. Not quite as bad as yours, but the fact that these dirtbags are around just kills me. Hope you get it sorted, and of course, good thing that you and your family are okay.

That's terrible news mate, really sorry to hear it. I'll certainly keep an eye out for any sign of your pieces turning up for sale.

Very ordinary mate. Sucks that it's happened to you. I'm glad you're safe and wish you the best of luck in any potential recovery!

I'm afraid that all he'll get is a "non-lieu". At least that's what the judge informed me the last 5 times I was broken into.

Really powerless. Drivers are a much more easy and safer target.
