Hi all, I just got myself a brand new Breitling and I have a couple of questions I hope someone can answer.

1. I bought this watch at an AD so I have all the boxes and papers, but I was wondering how one goes about getting the official certificate from the COSC. I read somewhere that it costs 100 Swiss Francs.

2. I saw a youtube breitling watch review in which the reviewer says he sent the "registration" in to Breitling and they sent him a hat. How does this work? Can anyone do this? And if so, is there any way one could request a wallet instead of a watch?

3. My watch didn't come with a "hang-tag" or a hard clear plastic protective cover over it. Do they not include those anymore?

Thanks for any info.

If you bought new from an AD then the AD needs to include the yellow COSC certificate and, if necessary, procure a replacement. Insist on it.

In the US, the AD fills out and sends the registration to BUSA (Breitling USA). Yes, you will get a hat. Highly unlikely you will get a wallet on a first Breitling. There is a swag hierarchy of sorts, depending on amount spent and/or # of watches purchased in a certain time frame. Nothing etched in stone, but what you will get is a hat.

Sometimes they are included, sometimes not. Either way it is no big deal. Bezel protectors are pretty rare. Hang tags are usually included, but have no value beyond the 10 cents of plastic they are made of.

Now you need to post some pictures!!

Thanks Sharkman for your quick reply. I think I wasn't quite clear about the COSC certificate. I definitely have the yellow one from Breitling. I understood, however, that there was one you could get from the COSC itself if you sent the proper documentation and fee. I heard that it was white, rather plain-looking and that it gave you the actual results for your particular watch.

Thanks for the swag info. Does what you said hold true for Canadian purchases? I live in Canada and bought my watch at a Canadian AD.

I think in Canada the swag is between the customer and AD.

COSC does send a white paper printout to Breitling SA and then Breitling uses their own "fancy" one. From what I've read, it is unclear what Breitling does with that documentation. I've never hread of anyone acquiring the paperwork, rather a new Breitling issued COSC certificate.

Hats are sent to ADs in Canada - just go in and ask for one.

One memer here from one of the Nordic countries had the original COSC as I recall, but I have been told that it is not available, and that makes sense - it's Breitling's record.

Thanks guys for the info. I'll post some pictures as soon as I can get my girlfriend to show me how to use her digital camera.

Regarding the original COSC data, I can see how you might want it just to satisfy your own curiosity, especially if you're any kind of a techno geek. But for all practical purposes, you don't need it. It will not affect resale at all, and isn't something anybody normally gets. It's purely academic. Unless you just really have hankering for it, you don't need to worry about it. The other questions have been answered adequately, but I'll just add that the presence or absence of a hang tag or bezel protector also will not affect resale. Their inclusion is so hit-and-miss, and they are of so little practical value, that they are a non-issue. Mine just sat in the box for the entire time I had the watch.

At least in the US people get something from Breitling unlike in the UK where we never get anything, unless the AD throws something in when you buy the watch.

Can I interest you in a nice pair of Breitling pink boxer shorts? One owner, worn sparingly, recently "refurbished."

I don't even want to know how, let alone why.

You are using the wrong UK AD.

Always had a gift with new watches from Andrew Micheals Jewellers.

Hat,pen, T shirt even a free spare link for a fighter bracelet.

Top AD.
