Assuming for one moment that cost was not prohibitive; what is you holy grail? Which watch, if any, would you spend a fortune on? From a personal point of view, I am thankfull to be able to already own the wathches I have coveted for some years and I dont think there is any I would really want, but who knows

For me it would be a Bentley Mulliner Perpetual in Rose Gold with a Rose Gold Speed Bracelet. But for now my next one will probably be a Ullysse Nardin Executive Dual Time in Rose Gold.

Couldn't tell you, unfortunately, as I tend to focus a bit more on those remotely in range. Even then, trying to choose one might lead me to the same fate as the dog with two bones in Aesop's fables. For now, on the outer range of reason, I really want a Fifty Fathoms. Or a VC Overseas. Or a Breguet XXII. See, there I go. (Actually, it's the Fifty right now)

My take on a grail watch is one that you want the most, not money is no object. at the moment my most desired or "grail" watch is a 1969 mk II speedmaster. IVE GROWN OBSESSED WITH THEM!

Same here.

Unless I win the lottery, I just cannot remotely consider (or even imagine) spending over £15K - £20K on a single watch. And if I did I'd be too scared to wear it! So for me, a vaguely realistic (and wearable) grail would be an AP ROO.

I agree with the above. While it's nice to drool over ridiculously complicated and expensive watches, that's only fun for so long. Then it's depressing So to answer your question, my next grail will be a watch I really want and can also afford and it will probably be something with a GMT complication; something I've wanted for a while!

I wholeheartedly agree with this thinking - I personally would love for a Rolex GMT Master II. Its one of the few Rollies I like the look of & GMT function would be pretty sweet. Usually my holy grail is the next watch that strikes me as interesting. I'll probably catch some crap for it but I would love to get a Welder next. Interesting design and nice a big (which I prefer). Completely unrealistic would be a nice tourbillon of some sort.

This is an impossible question. I think every thread like this that I've responded to has a different watch, or two or three. Like others have said I can't bring myself to mull over watches that are ridiculously expensive. I understand why a Patek or a Lange & Son cost what they do but I'll never own one so why bother. Personally I don't think I'd ever spend over $10k on a watch, I'd need to come into some serious money to even consider going that high.

That being the case there's the Rolex Milgauss, I love that thing and an Omega Speedy Pro. Maybe not true "Grails" but those are the two that I'd love to have. Now that I think about it out of those two the one that I want the most is the Omega Speedy Pro, the new 40th anniversary of Apollo 15 LE one.


There's something about the Speedy that I just love, I can't wait to own one some day, the classic and the new in-house models.



And the Milgauss just for good measure.

I also love the Milgauss. I almost picked one up a couple months ago, but couldn't justify the money at this time. I agree, a "holy grail" watch should be attainable at some point. It's something to work towards. Not a big fan of the Speedy. It's a fine watch, and a true classic, but I prefer white/cream faces. Funny how tastes change, because I havent always been that way.
