What was the price difference between both models? Is price an important consideration for you?

the SuperOcean II is $7200

the SuperOcean I is $5500, both o PRO II

(these are the Dutch prices without discount!)

a big difference, but is the SuperOcean II worth it? And why is it so much more expensive?

As a former 1 owner and a current 2 owner, here are my impressions:

The 1 is in my opinion one of the most underrated chronos of the previous generation. At 42 mm it is not as large as many other popular models, but apart from that it pretty much has it all. It even has something that almost no other models have, namely the day/date display. It wears, looks and works great. It also looks good with a bracelet as well as a rubber or leather strap. It has the same movement as the 2 (as far as I know, there might be modification differences that I am not aware of).

The 2 has all the basic features as the 1 with the exception of the day/date display. I like the larger size and the brushed finish as opposed to the polished on the 1, which I prefer on sporty models. Also the bezel is easier to read, but it lacks (for some reason) the lume index marker. I also like that the subdials have the same color as the main dial.

I think that between the two, the 1 is definitely the most bang for the buck. But on the other hand, there's no use in spending money on a watch that is almost the one you want. My advice is: follow your heart, but use your head

Well, yes and no. Purely functionally, they are the same except for the day/date. The even have the same water resistance rating, if I am not mistaken. So even if the differences are mainly cosmetic, there are many. Take for instance the size; it's heavier and has a 22 mm bracelet so it feels different to wear. This might seem like a small difference, and in one way it is, but since you'll be wearing it on your wrist all day this difference can be quite noticable.

Let's put it this way: Except for the day/date, bezel, bezel inlay, fonts, dial, color scheme, case size, case shape, case and bracelet finish, crown and the wieght, they are the same.

Nothing stood out more than when I read $7200 for the CSOII. Just something about seeing that in print took the wind out of me. The CSO was always the reasonably priced Breitling Chrono. $7200? Holy mackeral!

I was in a Breitling AD yesterday and they had most of the new models. I am biased as I own the white face CSO I. With that said the new one did nothing for me. I see the new CSO as more of a trendy watch as opposed to the former that will be timeless for years. As always this is a matter of personal taste, enjoy what ever you wind up with.
