I guess my first nice watch watch was a Citizen Eco-Drive - well a pair really as the first one was stolen. I wore it for about 5 years or so.

My first really nice watch was my Breitling Montbrillant 1903 - a gift from my now wife and I will never ever get rid of it :D

I spent two years or so debating whether to buy a Tag or Omega sooner but glad I held out; made it extra special. Plus coming home from two years abroad didn't do wonders for my cash flow either on something as unnecessary as a luxury watch (at the time).

My first nice watch was an Omega Seamaster GMT "Great White," which I loved, but sold it to fund my Speedmaster. I've been looking for a good GMT ever since, as I travel around the globe regularly. I miss the functionality of that watch, especially when jumping around Europe.

My first watch was a 99' Superocean with a blue dial.
I ended up selling it to purchase a Steelfish w/ blue dial. I still own that watch.

I bought a coral dial superocean, but its not the same. Kinda miss my blue one.

My GMT was the first. I have been tempted to sell it once or twice, but it has sentimental significance, some of which I created which boxes me in a bit.

I always wanted a Rolex someday, but thought that day had passed or would be some time away. Before my mother passed, she told me that I would receive some money, and I should go get something for me. I think she knew what that meant, so a few months later I decided it was time, and started looking at Rolexes. I ended up with my GMT.

I also decided that since my Mom left some heirloom items, but none of them really befitted a boy, there was something for my daughter but not really for my son. I decided then that the GMT was ultimately to go to my son, from his Grandmother, when he was ready. Since then, the family has witnessed me go a little nuts on the watch front. I gave my son an Omega Dynamic chrono for his sixteenth birthday, which he wears at college. He knows the Rolex is meant for him but we have talked about it and, as a watch, it doesn't do that much for him. He would love a skeleton watch and really doesn't care beyond that. To him, the "from grandmother" concept seemed a little contrived, and perhaps it is. He remembers her, he says, and that's all he needs.

For years, no matter what else I have owned, I wear the GMT on certain special days. Still, wrist time was dwindling when my long time "watch guy" and I made the decision to change the bezel to pepsi. This has added new life to the watch, which in fact has appreciated in value since I bought it, pre-owned, nine years ago. It gets more wrist time but feels small and lightweight next to what I have now.

My Mom loved unique things. She would have loved my Navi and would have been impressed by the dial and the history of Breguet. She would probably have understood if I wanted to make an upwards move. Still, I have held back. For what she knew, Rolex was it. Maybe, someday, I might consider a different Rolex. Right now, though, I'm inclined to wait a few more years to see what my son thinks then, and continue to wear my GMT on special days.

First love was a Breitling Aerospace, didn't buy one - got a Steelfish as my first. Traded that for a Panerai, didn't grow on me like I hoped. Went through a few others as I was trying to find my 'way' in this watch world. Now I'm back with Breitling and Omega.

Omega Railmaster 42mm, my wife gave it to me. It is the only one I haven't traded/sold over the years. I don't have to say why do I?

My first true step up was a blue dial SO in 2002 followed shortly by a B1 (also blue). Loved both and sold both during some lean times. Giving up my Breitlings ate at me for years. This summer I finally got another, a SO Professional black dial for my 20th anniversary.

My Colt GMT, it was a gift to myself for finishing my MBA and it's one I'll never sell.

My first nice watch was a Breitling Chrono Superocean.
I sold it to a very good friend of mine who also happens to be a member of this forum! :lingsrock:

That is really very nice Shark. No wonder you won't sell it. :lingsrock:

@ Scott Very interesting and emotional background story for your GMT. And +2 to what thomasenlow1 said.
