My car has a battery. My watch doesn't.

Hmmm. Trying to think of the double meaning there.

Well, my watch doesn't have seats.

Black microfiber with a silver waistband, from the Calvin Klein Steel collection. Matches my penchant for black-dialed stainless steel watches perfectly. I'll spare everybody the pics.

What the hell does this topic even mean? I drive a Dodge Ram and own a BB and a PO. I don't see the correlation between the two but whatever.

Actually I do see a connection. The fascination with a high quality machine can lead people to want both a more sophisticated watch and motor vehicle. For me, cars came first. I have had way too many over the years. Doesn't mean circumstances have allowed me to have the nicest cars, but I do believe that some of what attracts me to nice cars also attracted me to nice watches. Not everybody may have the same attraction and the economics of both are awful. I'd have saved countless thousands if I was perfectly happy with an Accord or Camry and a hundred dollar Seiko, but I'm not. I treasure the workmanship, performance and fitments of a premium car, and a premium watch. Right now I have a BMW, after dowsizing from a Jag. I never try to match car and watch, but if my tastes lead to a match so be it.

I get the concept Archie/Paul is getting at: watches and cars are both significant status symbols for men, at least for those men who are concerned with them. If someone is concerned about what kind of "message" his watch sends about himself to other people, it stands to reason that person would be concerned about the kind of message his car is sending, as well. So, if I interpret Paul correctly, the question is, does your car say the same thing about you that your watch does? Do the messages match? Obviously some people couldn't care less.
