I recently brought a Chronometre Automatic, it was second hand and came with no instruction booklet. I am wondering if someone could give me a heads up? I've never owned a Breitling before let alone an automatic watch and I don't want to mess things up! Example: should I send it away for servicing straight away? Is it normal to feel vibrations from the mechinisim inside? Any help at all would be great!

Well without knowing which model it is (Chronometre Automatic isn't a model), you likely will feel vibrations, especially if it's a Breitling caliber 13 / Valjoux 7750 based model - juest search Valjoux wobble on here.

If it's keeping time within COSC specs (-4 / +6 seconds per day) and maintaining a power reserve close to 42 hours then it likely won't need servicing. Services are generally every 5 - 7 years, so if your watch is that age and hasn't had one then it might be worth considering, otherwise just enjoy it.

It's a Breitling Chrono Avenger, was produced around 2005, have sent it off for service as when I called the people at Breitling UK they said it has no history with them, ie no service. But it is a lovely watch and I can't wait to get it back! Thank you for the advice!

:welcome:

I don't have a manual for the Chrono Avenger but here's a link to an Old Navitimer manual which uses the same movement.

The slide rule part is not relevant but it has instructions for winding, setting date/time and using the chrono.

Take careful note not to change the date between the hours of 8pm and 3am. You can seriously damage your watch if you do this!
