Hey guys,

I couldn't be happier! A few days ago, I wrote to ALS about my passion for fine timepieces and their brand. I mentioned that I was just writing to them to express that passion but was definitely not in the financial position to purchase one of their watches due to my youth. Not expecting anything out of this, I was dumbstruck when I received the mail today: a package from A. Lange Sohne! I was curious because I hadn't ordered a catalog or anything, plus the shape of the package was quite odd. Opening the package, theres a small, about 2.5 inch cubed box, a book, and letter! The book is a memor about Walter Lange called "The Revival of Time." The letter was short but sweet.

Now the best part.....

What was inside this tiny box? How bout an A. Lange Sohne watchmakers loupe  I was completely caught off guard but incredibly happy nevertheless. The letter mentioned the contents of the package, stating in one part: "....as well as a wooden loupe for your usage."

In my letter to ALS, I mentioned my hobby/sidejob of watchmaking, I guess they listened :)

Thank you A. Lange Sohne!

Regards,
Gary

great to hear/see altruism from a company instead of greed. very nice touch and admittedly probably a nice ROI for ALS.

Very nice indeed - keep ahold of that loupe and use it. Just don't get any splinters in your face when you screw it in to your eye!

That's as good a story as I've read in a while. A simple letter expressing your admiration and personal interest without any attempt to get something in return. Good for you AND good for the folks in Glashutte.

Great story indeed. You see, miracles can happen with the right people in the right place.

Could you post some pics of the loupe? Sure sounds interesting.

Hmmmm, I wonder how many "letters expressing admiration and personal interest without any attempt to get something in return" A.L&S will be getting from people here now!

Nice going Gary! Very cool gift indeed.

I just fedexed mine. Something about my dear departed uncle who left me his treasured Lange 1 Dual Time and the mean and dishonest Executor of his Estate who took all the money and gave the watch to a cabana boy in the Virgin Islands. And how I lost my job, got 4 flat tires, and a wicked skin rash. All in one day!!!

It could have happened.

Very cool story and a great showing by A L&S. You have a picture of that bad boy by any chance?
