I read once that people who consistently refer to themselves in the third person tend to suffer from a Narcissistic Personality Disorder...

What about a person who refers to himself in the third person with a name that isn't even his?

Hmmmmm...What does it mean to you? :geekfuman:

That we're all fictitious creations of Paul's subconscious, and when he wakes up, our entire universe will cease to exist.

Oh I totally agree there are huge contradictions in most of Archie's posts. Attempts at ingratiation on the one hand (as demonstrated by Navitimer/Rolex posts on the respective forums that were identical save for the brand name), and then attempts to be inflamatory on the other hand. Archie's just a big ol' ball of contradiction.

I'm also fully aware that in amongst the comedic ramblings, there are occasionally a few genuine and worthwhile facts, but I personally choose to take ALL of Archie's posts with a huge pinch of salt. I just don't let them rile me up in the slightest, and if I find any of them specifically amusing (like todays), then I'm happy to laugh along with it.

If we take the worse-case scenario that Archie is actually just a troll looking to generate heated exchanges, then I'm afraid too many members are prepared to rise to the bait. As we always say, "don't feed the troll".

However, Archie's never broken any forum rules (as far as I'm aware), and I personally think we've had far more "damaging" people as members here in the past.

My advice (for what it's worth) :- set Archie straight if his posts give misinformation about something watch-orientated, but otherwise just read his posts (or not), laugh, tut, shake your head, whatever............, but then just move on.

We have all heard about pluralis maiestatis, but today only XO:s on submarines refer to themselves in third person. And they are allowed to do so, due to fact, that if they were humble, they would be perfect.

Those watches may cost a lot but sco is not inspired, envious, jealous, or even taken with any of them... at all.

I use salt to when I see Archie is posting. Follow with tequila, finish with lime. Just to get me fired up and in the mood to laugh and sigh...

Archie’s Collection Explained.

Vacheron & Constantin Ref 6405 – 1960
This watch belonged to Archie’s grand father who was a doctor/surgeon. The watch was bought at the height of his success and showed just how well off he was. The watch features the K1001 movement with sub seconds at 6 (ref 1002 is the same movement with centre seconds). The watch was considered the height of fashion – a dress watch in 18K yellow gold. If you were rich, a professional and a gentleman in the 1960s you bought a Vacheron & Constantin. Archie’s grandfather later was struck off the medical register after a surgical blunder. The watch was sold to a family friend to help pay the large legal bills. Archie managed to buy the watch back a few years ago – paying substantially below the true market value. The watch was then restored to its former glory. Archie’s grandfather left the country in the early 70s with his receptionist (much to the family’s disgrace) leaving only behind a huge overdraft and a damaged Mk II Jaguar 2.4!

Patek Philippe Calatrava 5107
Archie received a small inheritance a few years ago and the hunt for a classy watch commenced. Archie had a school reunion coming up also – so a good statement watch was needed. Archie almost got a Gold Rolex Day-Date or a Gold Rolex Submariner however Archie decided to go with his heart and not his ego. A white gold Patek Philippe Calatrava was available and Archie decided he needed it more than repaying credit card debt or putting money into his superannuation fund. The Patek is Archie’s holy grail piece – being a grande Calatrava in the classical white gold. Although financial times have not been so good – Archie has resisted all offers and has decided to make this watch a keeper!

may be the site is out of date but ...this important watches are also for sale ...

Nice find Oester. That site's not that out of date (if at all) as Archie's "precious" VC was only restored a few months ago in March this year. (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=27955&p=208695#p208695).

Also worth noting that in the current thread that VC is apparently his grandfather's watch, but in the restoration thread the second line says he bought it.

That sad thing is, that restoration thread was probably the best thread Archie's ever posted, as it was interesting and informative, but it didn't garner a single response simply because no-one trusts a word he says. It's a shame.

Don't know how I missed this (and all the others posted by Archie recently). I had the best laugh in days. Couldn't even type my post.

But you have to give Archie credit for one thing though: he just posts a few lines and then we keep talking about it for days as he's enjoying our comments. This thread is already 41 posts long. But only one from the OP. It's just a game for him. Some of us have even been doing some serious research on his older posts or posts of his on other forums. Talk about time used worthlessly.

Really hilarious. :uplaugh:
