I actually bought my Navitimer World on Craigslist from an out of state seller who didn't want to do business with someone else out of state.

After sending him three e-mails and a couple phone calls (no I'm not a stalker) he realized I was legit. We talked for over an hour, I googled him, found a linkedin site, etc., had some trust level. He had my home number and work number, so we had a good comfort level.

I sent him funds via paypal, he sent me a tracking number, worked out great. So, don't be too scared about online shopping. Also, I posted a few pics here that weren't too good but got peace of mind (apparently Roff knows everything about Breitlings there is to know (my words not his, but his knowledge is incredible on these watches). After though, I posted better pics and got confirmation.

Bring a laptop with a wireless connection to match the pictures against the watch that arrives. DON"T expect an AD saleperson to be able to distinguish a good fake. I fooled the entire staff, managrer and on duty plice officer at a major Breitling AD with a Steelfish fake, then gave them an hour lecture about how good some fakes were - none of them had a clue.

$2300 for a preowned Navi on calf strap w/deploy is not "too good" so as to run you off. It is a good price.

IF you have any doubt, have the AD advance the date forward - you will see the orientation of the date numbers in the date window change 90 degrees from double digit dates to single digit dates. No Navi replica goes that far.

There are two #s on the back - a larger # starting with an "A." That is the model #. Under that is a smaller # and that is a unique serial #.

The simple fact the pushers work and the chronograph functions work correctly does not ID it as genuine. There are some very good replicas of chronograph models. Never underestimate the ability and continuing advancements of the Chinese replica industry.

These pictures alone demonstrate the watch in the pictures is real.

The COSC certificate can be reissued at a price, but the warranty which contains verifying only rarely can be. The small unique serial # muct match the "Montre No." on the COSC certificate. Any missing paperwork negatively impacts resale price. If the watch is more than 2 years old it is out of warranty so the impact on the missing Warranty book is minimal.

Still, I've never bought a watch without complete papers and full inner and outer boxes. It would have to be a pretty special deal before I would. If you have ZERO intention of ever reselling, the papers are largley irrelevant.

The watch looks authentic and brand new with the latest style Breitling box packaging but most likely have been purchased from a grey market dealer online which explains the missing papers ( COSC Certificate and Warranty Booklet). Did you inquire from the seller where the watch was originally purchased from?

The watch is here! It was a long day of driving there and back but it sure was worth it. The watch is beautiful!! I have swiped it from Jeremy for now because I like it so much. He says it looks fine on my wrist but I feel like its too big (I'm not a rapper...word? lol). Anyway, I know you guys probably think as long as it's a nice watch there's no such thing as too big but who knows... Is there an inappropriate size for a lady?

Picture of Jeremy wearing it for the 3 hour drive home

Picture of Jeremy no longer allowed to wear it

well congrats are in order. welcome to the world of breitling.

ok as for this being too big for a lady....IMO bigger watches on woman can work fine. it still has a way of making your wrist look elegant. a watch that is too big for a guy is totally different story. from the pic it looks like you can pull it off. now its just a matter of telling your husband that its yours....lol :lingsrock:

Looks awesome on your wrist! Just remember Navi & water don't get along. Avoid submerging it at all cost. There were also some threads about Breitlings and shooting which might interest you. Congrats again!

Navi & water don't get along? Eeeek! Do I just google this subject to get information or is there anything in the forums about it?

Breitlings and shooting... definitely need to read up on that. Not familiar with forums- how would I search for those types of threads?

Sarah

There's a search button top right of every page as well as a site Google search just above that.

Plenty of topics on water resistance of Navitimers, splashing is fine, showering and submerging isn't. Shooting with a mechanical watch is more of a sense of debate, it would depend on the g forces involved but for most hand guns I wouldn't be too concerned.

I've found it essential to the accuracy and longevity of my watches to remove before typing, writing, or wiping the sweat off my brow.

Long hot soaks in the jacuzzi or operating a jack hammer seem quite reasonable for mechanical watch wear. I've also found removing my watch and beating it repeatedly on my desk not only relieves stress when agitated, but also keeps everything moving inside the watch, helping the normal action of the escapement and gear train as well as bolstering the lubrication.

And what do you do with your watch on those lonely nights when you're looking at pictures of newly posted navitimers on bsource.com?

Funny, I use to do that with my computer when it doesn't respond as quickly as I would like. It has the same soothing results against stress.

Strangely enough, my computer is still in working order. :huh

BTW, if anyone is interested, I can post an excellent definition of stress.
