mfserge, as someone who shopped most of the Seamasters I disagree. Although I have not yet seen the new PO in person, and agree that it's a beautiful watch, I chose the SO44. I also own a Chrono 300M and can tell you I much prefer my Breitling. Not sure where I fall in regard to demographics by age, but I'm 34 next week, and I like that Breitlings look very different from Omegas. I tried the Steelfish, and although I really liked it, I liked the character of the 44 better. I realize I seem to be in the minority here but that's my perspective.

Look Breitling could make a bezel option out of dog turds and it wouldn't bother me. Just retain a classic metal bezel. It's too late I suppose, but that's all I would want.

One thing I like about the rubber bezel is the contrast, in regard to material and luster, between it and the numbers on the bezel.

I don't dislike rubber on bezels as I have said many times by word and with my wallet. I just hate to see it as a replacement rather than an additional style on some models.

I agree it would be nice to have the option. I do see long-term life issues with the rubber.

I love the watch, however a ceramic bezel would be amazing.

Exactly!! :yeahthat I know it would cost more, but it would make the watch perfect, with the addition of a luminescent pip at 12 o'clock. The new PO's will have a ceramic bezel btw.

Does anyone know if Breitling have any plans to go for a ceramic bezel on any new models?

I'd love for someone to tell me why so many have this fascination with the ceramic bezels. All the guys that I know who have them now hate them because the rest of the watch wears relatively evenly, but the bezel always looks like it's brand new. The "old" painted bezels hold up well. You're eventually going to have a nice, patina'd watch with what looks like a brand new bezel. Am I the only one who is not a fan?

I don't know anyone who does not like the ceramic bezel. I love mine. The watch is only 18 mos. old, so there is no wear to speak of. I personally hated the faded pepsi and coke bezels of the old GMTs. If I'm paying big bucks for a watch, I want it to look good. The ceramic bezels are extremely scratch resistant, and just look good IMHO. Now I want the Sub ceramic! :D

I'm not a fan of Rolex but that is a really cool shot.

On a second thought, I think I've seen that patch somewhere:

Thanks again Don

Absolutely agree. I like that it's not a hybrid. It's definitely a sports watch.

Had a buddy last week buy the SO44 on bracelet, and he was wearing the Omega Planet Ocean when he bought his Breitling. Said he thought the SO44 blew the Omega out of the water. Guess different folks like different things. Mybe the Planet Ocean was just old and the Breitling was new. Personally I like both!

The watch is 18 months old and I understand the affinity towards a ceramic bezel that does not scratch easily...but I can't help but compare it to a TOILET! A new toilet is a 15 year old bathroom looks like a new toilet in a 15 year old bathroom. A new bezel on an "old" watch looks just like that - a new bezel on an old watch.

Maybe I'm a purist. I want the entire watch to age evenly...putting the breasts of a 25 year old on a 70 year old woman doesn't make the 70 year old woman look younger - it makes the 70 year old woman look like she's trying hard to be something she's not

Bezel = toilet = breasts

???

I think I know what you're saying, but it doesn't really have to be that way, does it? I know some Speedy owners love the acrylic crystals, but personally I'd take a ceramic/sapphire dome any day of the week. I agree with Don, I don't see that there's anything wrong with trying to keep high-wear parts of the watch looking pristine for as long as possible, especially at the price of some of these new pieces.

I really did get a chuckle out of your analogy though : )

Cheers

Ross

I love the watch, I think it's a great upgrade from the SO 42. Awesome price too!

Mfserge,

So I took the time today to go into the Breitling boutique on 57th and 5th today and then the Omega Boutique a few blocks down. I have to say, I retract my previous statement. The new PO Chrono is beautiful and once on my wrist, it was hard for me to deny that I would prefer it over my SO44. The ceramic bezel has a very similar luster to the rubber, the movement and case back is gorgeous. Beautiful watch albeit it 2x the price of my SO44. Even though its the next gen PO, I feel it's completely different.
