Hey guys a quick question. I've only been here a few weeks and just got my first Breitling from my local AD around that time. I was brand loyal to Rolex before I tried on a Navitimer World and that was that.

Anyway, the question I have is why several of you seem to be selling watches that are a month or in same cases just a few days old that you've purchased from your local AD. Maybe this is something I "shouldn't" ask but it struck me as a little strange. If you're getting SUPER deals from your AD and can make a few dollars I understand but just doesn't seem to make much sense.

Is it that Breitlings are all consuming and once you buy one you just can't resist buying more? ...which is why I noticed what was for sale just weeks after buying my first. :)

Thanks - Peter

Watch ADD, buy something one week but then see something else that catches your eye. Very few breitlings, if any, can be flipped to make money even with a generous AD. I know the Navi 1461 I sold for a friend was an impulse buy and never worn and then sold 3 months later to free up money for something else.

Hello,

Sometimes, it could be a CHI in French (acronym meaning in French "Compulsion Horlogère Irrépressible").
Is that the correct translation for that: "Horlogère Irrepressible Compulsion", HIC

That mean that you can not resist to buy a new watch (add, review here or on Brand web site, events of the life to commemorate..

I never baught a watch in order to sell it in a few months after, I want to make a collection, not to buy and sell it immediatly.
But sometime you got a watch in mind (model, color, special edition...) and you find it (Ebay, AD) and yes you buy it ...

Best regards,

Challenger_fr

Perhaps impulsive buying or watch addiction by the seller? That is very normal and happens a lot not just in this forum but in other watch forums sites too ... even on Ebay. :) In most cases, the prices are very good compared to buying it directly from the local AD. :cheer:

Good humor guys! ...glad to know it's purely the watches getting ahold of our hearts while we're visiting out AD's and not something else.

As I learn more about Breitling, one thing I feel they do well is develop lines for different parts of our lives. I always fly with my Navitimer now...I mean, it's a Navitimer and I have to live in Zulu time, how could I fly without it? Now I'm looking for a utility watch for camping or fishing trips to Canada and am finding LOTS of good choices. Next? I'm sure I'll think of something my Navi World or the SuperOcean 44 I'm about to buy isn't perfect for.

Thanks again for all the help and the warm welcome to Breitling!

- Peter

Op.

Making money by flipping new watches no. Making money by buying pre owned yes, just look at all the big sellers on the bay that are based in Asia (I'm talking the good guys).

Watch ADD and impulsive buying... I'm afraid I have fallen into this category quite quickly. I have found myself spending most of my extra time looking at watches and stalking this forum.

It doesn't matter if it's for me or Jeremy or even for a friend, I will gladly spend hours looking at/for Breitlings online and in stores. Having just completed my first transaction and actually having one in my possession- yeah, I feel a monster has been created. But this monster will not be selling hers or his just for another one. I will hoard them all!!

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am a watch whore.

So, you weren't discouraged from your eBay disaster, and bought another one already?

I didn't buy this watch on eBay and thanks to some advice given from this forum I felt very comfortable meeting the seller at an AD.

Although you just learned about this eBay situation it actually happened 3 months ago. I may still be dealing with the issue currently but no, that hasn't deterred me from searching for and purchasing another. It has certainly made me more cautious.

Forgive me for feeling as if your comments imply I have done something wrong. What was I suppose to do? Never buy another watch? Guess I need to cancel the babysitter tomorrow- no need for my planned shopping trip to a few ADs.

I'll forgive you if you forgive me. I don't think you did anything wrong and I didn't mean to imply that. Read my post again.

I bought a fake off of eBay too, but fortunately I was able to get my money back without much difficulty. I buy and sell a fair amount on eBay but I have limited my watch buying and selling to folks from this forum. Not that that is infallible - there have been people who've been ripped off from folks here as well. Unfortunately, that is the world that we live in.

You're in retail, so I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know.

No worries. All is forgiven

Sorry to hear about your bad experience but glad to hear it worked out well in the end. I'm not sure that I will ever buy anything online again- from anyone, anywhere. It felt much better to see the watch in person and have it checked out prior to handing over cash. Eh, it's all a learning experience...

Sarah
