Hello to all the breitling gurus. I'm going to need your help in finding a good vintage.

I have been very familiar with vintage rolex sports models but breitling is a new area to me and need all the help possible. I'm searching on eBay but are there other good online stores that have a large authentic selection of vintage breitlings where I should also be looking?

The fake question:
I found this example http://cgi.ebay.com/BREITLING-CHRONO-VENUS-MENS-WATCH-N-R-0-99-/180699151061?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item2a12823ad5 on eBay that I very much like, is it fake/franken, if so what gives it away, I'm looking to learn all I can.

Thanks
Jason

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

Take a look at some of the threads in hte vintage section and you'll learn a lot. You'll find vintage Breitlings in all of the normal places - eBay, Chrono24, etc, but there are a lot of fakes out there.

This is definitely one to stay away from - no model or serial numbers on the caseback, bad engraving of Breitling on the caseback and bridge and a redial.

Lots of fakes out of South America and recently they have been sold from Miami to try and give them some sense of credibility. It's not working.

welcome, Jason !

the example you have picked is a bad fake, not even franken, no part of this watch was even near a Breitling workshop.

clumsily refinished fake dial
wrong case design
no appropriate serial number
no model number, etc.
seller is what I (personal opinion only) consider one of the many Florida fronts for the fakers in South America.

you could get Richters book for a start, but the best way is to try and find a watch you like, post pics or link here, we will be glad to help.

Thanks for all the suggestions on where to learn more about the watches and brand and guiding me in the right direction and the offers of inspecting any potential purchases I'm looking at for authenticity, I will be sure to make use of the wisdom of the forum.
