hey guys,

I plan to bring my Navitimer World to my AD.
Watch is bought within a year, so breitling warranty is still good, got another 2 yrs of warranty at the AD.

Watch issue
1. Watch is constantly at least 30sec faster/ week. Although it may not be the major problem, why not get it checked while going in for service

2. I know this has been discussed before. The Navi World Bezel and its numbering doesn't match 100%. the Red "60", Red "10" matches perfectly with the dial, but black "30", "35", "40" do not match up

3. This is Probably the reason why i'm taking it to AD tomorrow. The bidirectional bezel has been making a funny noise recently. Whenever i tap it, it sounds like something's missing, it doesn't sound "tightly bound" to the case. and when i try to move it around vertically (up and down), it makes a slight click noise and i can see a slight movement. Although this is not the worst issue, it has been bothering me for a while, and i decided to take it for service since it has been almost 10 months since i acquired the watch.

Do all my issues "qualify" for warranty service?
My AD is Tourneau in Northern NJ, anyone have experience with Tourneau for watch issues/ services?
I'm guessing they will send it to Breitling and it will take 6~8 weeks at max...am i right?

Thanks for any comments!

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Navi World. Check out this thread also posted on this forum. If you google the problem, you will see that you are not alone. When my World went back, there were times it took the service center longer than 8 weeks to have it back to the AD.

I too had the same issue.

Issue 1 is most likely a simple regulation, although 30 secs a day is quite a lot.

Issue 2 isn't really an issue IMO - it tends to be like that on all Navis.

Issue 3....., well if there's too much play in the bezel you can certainly ask for it to be looked at.

Issues 1 and 3 are definitely service issues, so you should get those fixed free of charge (1 especially). Issue 2 is a bit of a non-issue and I'm not sure if they'll do anything.......... but without asking, you never know.

that was going to be my answer until I went back and read- 30 ses/week. Within COSC so not a problem.

 Oh yeah. Oops. I'm so used to seeing gains said "per day", I totally overlooked the "per week" bit. In that case, yes, it's within COSC so it's fine.

As said....

1 is within COSC specs, watch is performing as it's guaranteed to

2 isn't an issue - every single Navitimer ever produced has this feature

3 is an issue and needs to be addressed

dropped it off at Tourneau (my AD) today...

My watch is bought wichin a year, so Breitling warranty as well as Tourneau warranty are both good.
They said Breitling warranty won't cover the bezel problem, although they will def fix/re-check the movement....
guy was giving me a lecture that breitling warranty only covers movement and no external bs...

will take 3~4 weeks to hear back from Breitling...we will see how it goes, but from the research i've done here and hear ppl say about it, bezel should be covered warranty....yes? no?

Hey there. Sorry to hear about your troubles. This post pertains only to the third suspected problem but hopefully it will help you feel a little better about your watch...

I just recently bought a 2010 Navi World from a local AD here in So Cal. Soon after my purchase, i noticed the exact same thing as youre experiencing. Turning the sliderule around felt very firm but tapping on the crystal produced a hollow plastic sound. Also, tapping on either side of bezel/crystal near where the bracelet attaches to the case can sometimes produce a clicking sound like the bezel itself has a slight amount of up down play against the case. At first, i was very nervous about this as it sounded almost like the crystal or the bezel assembly was loose or on the verge of falling apart. But, after quite a bit of research all over the internet, i found that this is actually a VERY common issue with the World model especially but also with Navitimers in general. From what i can gather, its mostly due to the fact that the crystal on a Navi is attached to the bezel/sliderule itself and not the case like most other watches. In order to have a "water tight" seal, the gaskets must somehow be sandwhiched between the case and the slide rule/bezel/crystal assembly. This explains why sliding the assembly around its usually very tight yet when pressed towards the case there is always a very slight amount of visible (and sometimes audible) play. I would venture to guess this is due to the manual compression of the gaskets under the force of the tap impact. This form of mounting is inherently subject to differences in pressure and or temperature and so will sometimes have more play then other times. After gathering this info i started to experiment, tapping on the crystal at different times and under varying external conditions, and noticed that the sound is totally inconsistent. Sometimes, in the morning when i first put the watch on, there is no hollow sound at all. Then, later after the watch has warmed up a bit on my wrist or in the sunlight, it will sound a little loose. Basically, the bottom line is that this is normal for this type of watch and part of the price you pay for the cool effect of seeing the sliderule spinning against the dial under the glass. Hopefully, you can get over the sound and realize that you own a spectacular and unique type of luxury watch that most people never have the opportunity to enjoy so try to relax and enjoy it. Thats what im doing.

Below i included a link to another thread discussing this issue. When reading it, you may want to pay close attention to the posts from Breitlingsource and Aviatorbumm near the end as they are particularly relevant.

All that being said, i have no way to know to what extent your watch is loose or making noise. A quick trip to the AD to compare with other Navis should help you decide if yours needs professional help or not. Of course its your watch and you need to do whatever you think is best for you. Im just trying to let ya know youre not alone and that the sound is probably not a huge deal. Hope this helps.

thanks for your explanation :D
That (your explanation of the assembly of Navi/Navi World line models) is what i was exactly thinking, and yea it makes that hollow noise, which bothered me the most.
Watch has been bought almost a year ago, still have warranty so whynot get checked out...

They said they will send it, will hear from the dealer within 3~4 weeks with exact discription of the problem/issue i presented as well as an estimate of price. (hopefully they won't charge me for that bezel...)

To be honest, Breitling is a tough watch (even the navi lines). Besides small scratches and that bezel issue, the watch has been worn everyday and i've been 150% satisfied with its reliability + luxury.

I will keep you guys updated!

**By the way, I was always confused about Chronomat vs Avenger from online pictures....wow they are different in real life... tried both on my wrist and fell in love with Avenger/black face... Unless i get the chronomat B01 with skeleton caseback, my next watch will be an Avenger!

Just an update (although it's been about 2 months since i posted my original post)

Went to AD to send out for service, wasn't fixed. Assumed it is just popular issue with navitimer lines...

I then actually called Breitling USA to address this issue, the Breitling USA Headquarter's mechanical manager said he is aware of this issue, and the rubber gasket needs to be changed.

I went back to AD to explain and send again...and this dumb AD actually sent to a wrong BUSA office (one in Florida)... watch wasn't fixed...

and by this time i was mad at AD instead of BUSA, they listened to my explanation and wrote the incorrect discription under repair section...stupid...

I wrote a letter and sent the watch myself to BUSA headquarter. Got the watch back with the partial service stamp on my warranty card, fully polished and cleaned and the "tapping" bezel noise is FIXED!

It feels and sounds tight, no hollow tapping sound at all...By looking at it very carefully i believe the bezel is changed. But mostly i'm sure the gasket inside is changed.

Anyways, just a story of breitlign service..."interrupted" by the dumb AD....but overall very satisfied with Breitling service/repair. :lingsrock:

Had the same problem with the one I had. Tap the crystal and it sounded loose. I had it fixed by Breitling. Not sure why that happens.

what do you mean" always very tight"?

Navitimer bezel is usually very tight, and once you move it around it sort of becomes smooth.
