Firstly great choice on getting a Breitling. If you go to an AD they will always haggle and you should be able to get one within your budget. I have heard great things about the forum sponsers who should be able to help you out with your purchase. AM is a UK based dealer, drop him an email.
The SA is very nice but looked a bit too big on for me, if you can pick up a Steelfish you can't go wrong there imo.

Two UK ADs sponsor the site, Banks Lyon and Andrew Michaels. Links to both at the top of the page. I would go and try a bunch on, even if you end up buying used you can't really decide until you've strapped some on.

Be careful of the online store based used market - usually significantly higher price than using these forums - here on BS, TimeZone, Chrono24, watchnet, watchuseek. You can post pictures on this site with questions about the ones you find there.

I did look at the fitzrovia site and prices seemed high. The one SA I saw was an older one and on the older Pro I bracelet.

As a GENERAL rule of thumb, a mint pre-owned Breitling with box and papers, perhaps still under warranty, sells for around 50% of retail. (I've seen some listed on the forums in the last week at about 10% off retail and that is a pipe dream, since 20-25% off is simple to get new from an AD.) Place a WTB post here in the buy/sell/trade section, and Timezone and watchuseek for starters. Specify UK sale only and in-person strongly preferred.

But you can alleviate unessesary stress by following the first rule of buying second hand - buy the SELLER. All the forums have Feedback sections and can be searched by user name. TZ uses the "Good Guy" section on watchnet. Get email addresses for references. Have a healthy dose of skepticism for a post within a few days of a member joining a site or as a first post. If the price seems to good to be true - run away. At least once a week I get a PM or email asking about someone I dealt with in the past.

Have a look at the feedback forum here to see the ratio of positive feedback to negative. If a buyer does what he is supposed to do, it's rare for someone to get screwed.
