I've only "heard" that this watch was made, but cannot find it anywhere. I fly helicopters for the US Army and we do, indeed use that frequency for search and rescue. Unfortunately, we don't use 121.5, can't even pick it up on our guard receivers (at least in my helicopter).

I've tried to look for an email address directly to Breitling but to no avail. Someone let me know if you know anything on this. Thanks in advance.

Very Respectively,

Mark

Not currently produced, although a new (presumably 243) Emergency is coming out in a few years.

The very first Emergencies were indeed 243s, but they were never sold, they were issued to various military units and I suspect that they are still considered forces property rather than individual pilot property (although I am sure that some escaped)!

There really isn't any option except to hope that one comes out on the secondary market until the new one is ready.

I hope they don't! If they wanna get with the times it should be a 406MHz freq. If I pull that damn thing I want to know someone is coming and not just doing an airborne comm search for low powered freq tx. Just me the watch they build might be good for a few hundred meters but I'm not. Airborne or sea level thats what I was built for.

:yeahthat :superman:

And if they (Breitling) monitor this forum would it be to much to have dinner and a beer delivered with that pick up on 406? PS I'll be the guy shooting my gun into my help screaming "back to hell demon ........back to hell"

:guns: :guns: :guns:

There are some pics of them floating around this site somewhere.

I have a 243 that was restored by Breitling about two years ago. BUSA said that it was the first one that they had ever had sent in for service; they sent it off to Switzerland for the restoration...

Yep, I think I remember about the time you acquired that rare beauty with the UHF (vice VHF) transmitter. I was envious then and remain so. You know when you get tired of it I'm here for you...
Best,
Ron

PS. Havn't we already had the discussion about talking about that watch without posting pics? Shame, shame, shame...

Sorry, my bad. Yes, new ones are supposed to be 406, not 243.

Sorry for the late reply but here are some pics of my 243; as you will see, the main differences on the 243 [other than the obvious frequency] are the titanium antenna caps [all four are titanium] and the titanium crown. The Pro I bracelet is original to the watch but the links are pinned rather than screwed together. The box set is the very early style with no separate bakelite box but rather a slot for the watch cut into a foam block which, in turn, is set into a larger rectangular cut into the base foam...

Hello,

This watch and the used frequency is very rare, keep this watch. ... :lingsrock:

"Bravo" for this watch, I only got a E521621.1 with 121.5Mhz...

Best regards,

Challenger_fr

Is there an small wrist borne alternative to the Brietling watch to send the 121 , 243, and/or 406 hz signal.
This would be especially nice for those who cant afford 2k plus (used) for an Emergency. IE US Army helicopter pilots and the like.
When I was serving the "rich" pilot in our squad had a used Triumph TR-6 and everyone was jealous of his display of prosperity.
