Im looking to get a black leather strap with deployant clasp. From my research the clasp is around $2-300 and the leather strap is around $4-500. I would be looking at an average of around $600 for this setup.

Breitling makes quality products and I dont mind paying for something good, but are the leather straps worth the price?

Im sure there are better straps out there at half the cost and better quality. Some of the best leather products are made in the USA (Ghurka comes to mind) and Italy. But if the Breiting leather strap is the best out there I wouldnt mind paying for it.

Looking for some opinions and recommendations.

If you consider your watch worth the price you onse payed then the strap can't be a money saver

Quality cost is the same if example dangerus9 make them ore breitling
The reason for take a third part strap is the rarity of have a exclusive strap.

this is my personal ......

Very few straps available to beat Breitling quality, and those that are comparable cost just as much. Incidentally, it is the croc strap that is that expensive, calf is much cheaper.

The leather portion goes retails for $160 and the deployant retails for $240. Used deployant clasps go for a bit less. Its not too bad if you consider that the deployant should last forever, so replacement leather will be the only future cost.

As for quality, they are among the best you can find. There are others out there like ABP that can make you something as good, but you wont be paying less.

To echo the others I'd say that Breitling make amongst the best quality straps out there, and certainly for the money. Some other top end manufacturers make great straps too, but often you will pay more. AP for example make exceptional straps as well, but they are seriously expensive in comparison to Breitling.

I agree with all of the above. I own two Breitling calf leather straps and a bunch of other aftermarket straps and the quality of the Breitling straps is really very very good. If you're conscious of price you can buy Breitling calf leather on tang for about $175 USD and there are certainly cheaper deployment options. No matter what route you choose they are definitely well worth the price for me.

Thanks for the info. How secure are these clasps compared to a regular buckle?

Deployants are very secure, I've never had an issue with one coming undone.

I have that exact set up on my Navi World and I have to say it's an important part of my overall enjoyment of the watch.

My dealer had the watch in their shop without the deployment clasp when I came to pick it up so I had to wear it with a "high quality" non-Breitling strap for a few days. It is twice the watch today with the smooth leather deployment.

Having had the experience of both Breitling and non-Breitling on the same watch, I would be hard pressed to wear a non-Breitling strap again.

Is it not that a lot of buyers want a genuine strap with the watch instead of a "cheap" non-Breitling to complete the pakkage?

I'm sure that's a component of why it's desirable to have a genuine strap from Breitling. However, as the others have said already, Breitling straps are tough to beat. They have done a very good job of cultivating a certain look for their straps - I can spot a Breitling strap a mile away.

Breitling straps are very good, however I am now a convert to ABP. More customisable, as good if not better quality and less expensive.

I had a brown croc strap on a deployment on my bentley motors. It was a bit stiff, but I really like it. Pricey, but very nice.
