What's up guys.

I've been checking out the site for a few months now, talking down my reluctance to splurge on an Emergency Mission. I'm smitten by the blue dial/white subdials model. However, as I've been looking more and more often, I think I'm noticing a different shade of blue on some of the watches. For Example, this is the color I'm accustomed to seeing:

But I feel like I'm seeing more and more of the kind below. Notice the "Breitling" script and wings are a different color than the picture above, and I thought it curious that the "Antennae" knob isn't labeled, and there's no "B" on the time adjust knob or on the bezel. In fact, when you look specifically at the bezel, you see the "45" marker, for some reason, is between 10 and 20... none of this can be right, can be right, can it?? How many different shades of blue on the EMs are legit? I'm putting the link to the active Ebay auction below the pictures if anyone wants to check it out.

Any input at all would be great.

Thanks!

Don't know about colour variations but the eBay watch is real.

OK, but how could you tell?

Thanks for the guidance on this.

As Roff says the watch in the ebay listing is real. The replicas of the EM are an easy spot as they are very poorly done. Subdials, antennae, dial and caseback as well as the case itself are usually wrong.

No question that the EM on eBay is real. There are no passable replicas of this model. None of the fakes use the ETA251 movement with minute/seconds chrono hands.

Regarding the 15/45 rider tabs, they have been removed at some point and replaced where they would usually be found. However, the EM has a countdown bezel so they should go on the opposite sides. Just a case of undoing a couple of screws.

Regarding the lighter colour, watches are a sod to photograph and variations in colour to the stock Breitling photo are to be expected. If it was green, I'd be worried but not just a lighter shade of blue.

Regarding the missing antennae/crown markings, this could be due to the depth of field being narrow so losing focus on the edges of the watch.

You can be confident bidding on this piece.

Hi - Just wanted to add (unfortunately from my own PERSONAL experience) more of the details that indicate a FAKE or a REPLICA.

For the EMERGENCY MISSION...

FAKES:
- You will see that MANY of them have the Bezel markers BACKWARDS. Instead of the markers being (Counter-Clockwise:15 - 30 - 45...You will see the #'s going CLOCKWISE. e.g. - At 3:00 will be 15 instead of 45)
- The FAKES have NO TIP on the ANCHOR. The round part of the Anchor or curve between the Flukes will have a tiny TIP on the REAL one.
- The FAKES: Do NOT have a "second" hand and a Chrono hand.
- The FAKES: Have NO Glow in the dark hands or hour markers, and the ones that DO are VERY FAINT.
- AND - The "Breitling T.M. 'B' + Anchor + Wings - Beneath the 12 hour marker are not as detailed. Closest to the 'B' you will note only one set of "Feather" lines. Not the Double/Very Detailed set of feather lines/details.
- Also - The Bracelets are EASY to spot. If you can get a look at the pins - Fakes have TINY / INFERIOR pins instead of screws. The "better" replicas have screws, but they are again, inferior, and tiny compared to the real deal.

AND DONT FORGET...It just takes ONE little phone call into your nearest Breitling location. I live near Toronto, so I called Breitling Toronto with the Serial # of a watch that I was ready to pay for and GOOD THING! There was NO SALES record or any record AT ALL - of the watch that I was given the # of!

Right before you are ready to buy - MAKE THE CALL INTO BREITLING. If you have someone who is NOT willing to produce the Serial # of the watch...BEWARE! All you would be doing with this number is having Breitling confirm:
#1) - Where the watch was originally PURCHASED...
#2) - Who the original BUYER was that it was registered to.

HAPPY BUYING!

- MIKE
