Got it from a UK ebay seller. It is extremely high quality. I really cannot tell if it is fake. There is a replica site selling what appears to be this exact item, however maybe their photos are of a real one, who knows.

Seems real:
Basically perfect quality in every way, on the rubber and steel
Perfect logo
Perfect strap molding
Perfect shut-lines
Rubber does not turn white upon bending it acutely
Rubber is thick and great quality, perfectly molded
Laser etching is perfect
Fonts are perfect
Overall better finished than my real pro II bracelet clasp
The micro adjuster works perfectly
It's heavy, glass smooth and silent in its operation, and feels amazing

Seems fake:
Smells like a tub of vanilla chap stick
All pictures I can find of real ones look slightly different, though I've not seen consistency even on real ones
The clasp has some different angles and shapes to what I've seen on this forum
The tiny bar that goes between the two clamping parts of the folder is missing, but the holes are there
It came with no tags or anything, just in bubble wrap
The push text inside though perfectly done, lacks the oval border like all other pics I've seen

The real odd part is that I paid almost the same price as for a real AD one here, only saved about $40, but I had some paypal money to use up so I got this one.

Listing said '100% Authentic' - did I buy a one-hundred percent authentic fake strap?

Thanks guys

My 22/20 OR is stamped 2008, not 2018(maybe because yours is blue??). It should definitely NOT have a vanilla smell. The fake industry uses a strong vanilla scent to cover the dank oder of the rubber they use (though some genuines brands DO use a vanilla scent, notably Chopard on the Dunlop straps for the Milla Miglia).

The hinge on the large end of the clasp should only extend about 25-30 degrees beyond vertical, yours "looks" like it goes further beyond vertical.

The metal lip where the strap inserts on the long side of the clasp should be noticably wider than the portion that says, "PUSH." Yours "appear" to have the same width.

Finally, the applied wings logo does not look as raised as the two I have and the area around the logo looks
almost indented.

Were it my call, I'd say it is not a genuine Breitling clasp or strap. Hope I'm wrong.

Thanks for the help. The wings are very much raised but does not photograph as such. It is a well done, crisp-edged applied logo that sits a solid and even 1-1.5 mm in height. The fact that it looks indented is exacerbated by the camera - it looks perfectly applied in person. Hope that helps.

I also have a brand new Diver Pro that I got from my AD last week, in blue, and it smells nothing like this at all. That one just smells like rubber.

This is the hinge fully extended on mine –

Notice the difference in width on the portion that says, “Push” versus the portion just below it –

Most notably, look at the curved shape of the area on the hinge area. I’m not seeing that on yours, but it could be the picture –

Mine has a different shape at the end toward the strap on the long end of the clasp, near the push button. Yours has a notch in each side, mine is square and simpler. And your hinge lugs are round and stop short of the edge, whereas mine are square and go flush to the edge. Definitely different there. Thanks for the taking the time! Very helpful.

Any more insight from anyone? I need to come to some sort of conclusion so I can determine if I want to begin the process of getting my money back. My AD does not seem to know enough about these to know if it's a fake.

Thanks again

What more do you need?? My pics are of a genuine clasp and the differences are considerable. Both of my other OEM clasps are identical to the one I shot pics of. And the kicker is Breitling rubber straps do not smell of vanilla but many fake Breitling straps do.

:yeahthat

Also, if you bend your strap in half you will likely see white, which won't happen with a real strap.

As I said, bending mine does does not cause it to show any white at all.

And I appreciate the pictures but I have also seen two other versions of the OR which are real, and yet different still from both yours and mine, in several ways.

Furthermore, on another forum I was told that real ORs do smell like vanilla.

So while yours are very helpful posts, I an still confused.

K. Hope you are right. Maybe in the last year Breitling added vanilla to their rubber straps, (I've had/have several and am picking up a new dpii and OR next week, so I'll let ya know) or maybe a crate of vanilla extract spilled all over a batch of straps in shipping.

But I fear denial ain't just a river in Egypt.

Real ones don't smell of vanilla.

I've never seen different versions of the rubber deployant clasp

Ok...time for a little tough love. If you are that paranoid about the strap you purchased then you need to return it and buy a new one from a local AD. Sorry, but life is to short to obsess like this over a rubber strap. It isn't like it is a $5K or $10K watch.

Calm down everyone, I can clear up all the confusion. The real OR strap should smell like chocolate, not vanilla!

Hope that helps. :lingsrock:

Thanks everyone. If it were so easy I just would already have returned it. While they will take it back, it would cost me fifty bucks in the shipping I paid t get it, and then that to return it. So if I want all of my money back, I would need to dispute it with pp. So its that or I can eat the shipping, which does not sit well with me if I was ripped off. If ounget ripped off and eat any of the cost and do not dispute, then you are just letting someone get away with it to go on and rip the next guy off. So hence the reason I really want to be sure before I go to that trouble. Plus the guy is rsponding and being helpful, so I don't want to pop him for a dispute if it is legit. He says he buys them from a real ad who does not care to sell on eBay.

Maybe the guy who says his smelled like vanilla got a fake one too!

Secret of a good scam - make the buyer thnk that you are too nice to scam them.

Would you expect the seller to admit that he bought them in bulk from China?
