That's really good to know. Trying to compress the spring, I do not see how it will possibly fit unless I could get one side in first and angle the rest in, which isn't possible.

It did not come with spring bars but I have a box of spares of different sizes. I think I'll try that. Thanks Rob.

I meant the diameter. If you are having trouble compressing the shoulder that may be more to do with the tool - you said it was a cheap one. Splash out the $15 or so for the Bergeon 6767F.

I took a look at it and will order. The issue I see though us that when I compress the spring fully, it's still too wide for the interhorn width.

Then use a shorter springbar. You have the ones that came off for reference on compressed / uncompressed length.

Thanks Roff. My original response was actually to Rob'd thread but I mistakenly quoted your post instead somehow.

Interestingly, the diameter does fit. I'll try a slightly shorter spring bar in the morning though to see if it will compress. The issue I see is using one that's too small and having it pop out unexpectedly.

I also may not be compressing it properly so there is the definite potential of user error.

You can check the compression just by pressing it against a table or similar, see whether the one that you are using is the same as the one that came off.

So after having to remove an electric baseboard heater to recover a spring bar, I have compressed it enough to determine that it will not fit the interhorn width. Unfortunately, the spare spring bars I have are too small. At this point, I am convinced I need to purchase two items - a new spring bar tool and new sprig bars. I know where to get the former but not the latter. Is it something I can get from an AD? If not, can someone tell me where to order and what length I would need?

I always just ask for them at my AD and they give me a bunch but others have reported having difficulties - certainly worth asking.

Finally got this rectified today. Bracelet fits perfectly, as expected. Just needed the correct springbars. Makes a huge difference to have the right ones - took me about 2 minutes to get the bracelet on.
