surgeons don't wear watches etc as they scrub in sterile. This doesn't apply to anesthesia providers. Once we secure the airway and do what we need to do for the pt, then the pt is prepped and drapped. We stay at the head of the bed, un-sterile, monitoring the pt throughout the procedure.
