Thanks guys. I decided to go with the Sub rather than the GMT because I prefer the brushed look, and I am a dive watch fan at heart. The Sub C seemed to combine a lot of the features I like, not to mention the awesome clasp. It's exactly the sort of watch I would choose if I could only have one. :D

Here it is this morning after its first trip to court. I still haven't taken all the plastic off  - will do that today.

Absolutely gorgeous!!! Wish it looked that good on my wrist. Congrats once again on an amazing watch.

Admittedly, the 40mm size limits the Sub's wearability for some of our big-wristed brethren. Otto, just out of curiosity, what's your wrist size? The Sub fits you like a glove.

Great pick up and pic of. Don't forget the plastic on the crown guards. I wore mine for a week thinking all the plastic was off until I noticed the crown guards.

Tom, do you still consider your Sub the one watch you would keep above all others, or has that changed with more recent acquisitions?

Honestly, it's VERY close between the Sub C and SS GMT IIc. The clasp on the Sub C gives it the nod for me as a "one watch." The multi-position quick adjutment wins over the single 5mm adjustment in the GMT (forget what that is called.). But the GMT IIc clasp is the second best clasp I've encountered. The third best clasp, whatever it may be (likely the Breitling), is not even in the same ballpark. The worst clasp I've ever encountered was the DSSD, oddly enough. The extension was the most poorly conceived thing I've seen/worn.

Evidently Rolex intends the Glidelock to be the equivalent of the wetsuit extension, since only the Sub and the DSSD have it (albeit in two distinct variations). All of the non-dive watches featuring a new Oyster bracelet - GMT-IIc, Explorer, DJII, etc. - just have the Easylink. All other things being equal, I'd prefer the Glidelock, since it would provide the ultimate in adjustability. Having said that, I think the Easylink would suit me under most foreseeable circumstances, assuming the bracelet is properly sized to begin with.

And they threw in a nalf link on the Sub. It's hard to imagine a more adjustable setup.

Many Congrats and welcome to the club Otto.

You can't go wrong with the Sub C.

THE most iconic watch of all time brough bang up to date.

Apart from changing the Submariner scirpt on the dial to red and changing the sapphire glass to a domed non-cyclops version I can't seee how they can better this latest version.

I can hear the purists now: "Looks like the bastard offspring of a grudge f*ck between a Seamaster and a Chronomat Evolution."

About 6.75 inches, give or take. It fits perfectly.

Well whaddya know, there's plastic there! Removing it now.

With the GMT I was still finding bits of plastic within the clasp after about a month.

I'm 6 feet tall and 180 pounds - I have a 35mm vintage Omega - and I honestly think it's not how you wear the watch - the watch ultimately wears you. I just picked up a Rolex SeaDweller - hopefully I'll get a pic posted in this forum. I gotta say, having a few watches at varying sizes is great. But I can honestly say that the 40mm is a perfect size - you can wear it up or wear it down...it's a good size for a lot of guys.

Love the Sub C as well - I'm not a fan of the date bubble, but it's just such a classic piece!
