I was on an odd trip since a few weeks... I saw an add for a Breitling SOII in another forum and just had to have it :wowzers But the watch was already sold, and so began my quest for exactly this watch!

I was out of luck with an offered used watch from an online dealer - the watch was a little to "used" for my taste:

Image
(see the scratches on the inner bezelring and the ding at "45" - Bezel was pretty loose too, probably due to the impact...)

Back it went to the seller!

But I still wanted this watch - badly!
So I called upon a friend who has organised a great watch for me in the past.
Lucky me... his AD had exactly this watch in stock... a little more pricey, but still in my budget, so I reserved it and ordered the stainless-bracelet as well

Well, the watch arrived, but the only thing new about it was the bracelet...

Image

I still liked the watch until I discovered some issues at a closer inspection...
Obviously the watch was a show-and-tell model at the ADs office.:

Image
(All polished parts had these fine lines all over them... like the watch was polished over and over in the past)

...and as a wrong bezel protector was used to ship the watch to me... the rubber inlay got some nasty dents:

Image

You may understand... I was pissed - a lot! :guns:

I contacted the seller and we worked out a deal... a brandnew watch was to be ordered especially for me and as we were still on it, I upgraded the rubber strap to the deployant model! (which was again a little more pricey, but I thought: "What the heck!" )

Today I took delivery of my brandnew shiny and sparkly Breitling SuperOcean II "Abyss Yellow"

"Three's a charm" they say and rightfully so... the watch is perfect in every aspect! :lingsrock:

Here are the pictures...

shipping box (the same one, I shipped the last one back to the seller!)

I love Bubblewrap!

Box 1

Box 2 - love the little airplanes!

Everything, but the kitchen sink...
Image

Ah! (This time it fits!)
Image

Image

...you can't beat the clasp!
Image

Well, now thats what I call polished! :wowzers

Can't get enough of this wonderful Abyss-dial!

I think it fits perfectly on my wrist, which is about 8.5" (22cm) it isn't too small to look like a childs watch or too big to look ridiculous...

Best thing is... I didn't have to shorten the strap! It just fits out of the box! (with the loger side tucked all the way into the clasp) Looks like tailor made for me!

I have two lumeshots here... they are from the first watch I had, but I think that doesn't matter now... :D

I was reluctant to rip off all the stickers that protected caseback and clasp at first but now I already have... it's a great feeling to strap on that beautiful piece! :D :D :D

Nice little review. You are correct to look for perfection and to be 100% happy with what you spend your $$££EE on.

Ware it well and in good health..

I don't know if I should congratulate you or smack you upside the head and ask you what you were thinking. You pretty much outlined all the reasons why I refuse to buy one of these watches - they scratch easily and that rubber bezel is just a mess. This isn't a watch "built to last." If you have to baby a dive watch that much, then why bother buying it? I've used my Omega PO for recreational snorkeling and have had it on many a beach vacation and it still looks as nice as the day I bought it. I just don't understand why someone would pay a premium for this watch that needs to be babied.

Don't mean to be Debbie Downer and I mean no disrespect to the OP - but considering the SuperOcean's history, this particular model makes no sense to me.

That's no problem... I just bought this watch for its style and of course this fantastic yellow rehaut... :lingsrock:

I've got quite some watches in my collection, so the Breitling won't be my first choice for beach activity anyhow...

I have one, dont baby it, and it looks great. I dont find it any more susceptible to damage than any other watch ive owned. Sure, the polished finish gets hairlines easily. But it also looks awesome. Its like a black car.

I always tell people that the first few hairline scratches are the worst....but if you can stomach it, once you get enough of them, the watch actually looks terrific with a ton of hairline scratches on it - consider it an aged brushing process.

BTW -- I really do like this particular model and color - but I'd still prefer something that can take a bit more of a beating.

Love this watch but it looked too small on my 7.5" wrist when I tried it on. Surprised to see it fits your 8.5" better.
