Thanks Fear,

I know my quartz Aerospace design specs was +- 1 sec per week, while my airwolf super quartz spec is +- 15 sec/year. I'm sure that the new Calibre 01 must have a spec, but I have not been able to find it anywhere!

Cheers

It does - COSC - -4 / +6 per day.

The super quartz accuracy is amazing... For me, It's going to take a bit of time getting used to an automatic.

The COSC spec is the only real guarantee you have. However, I can say that after both of my B01 movements settled in (which took several months, buy the way), they were been accurate to about +0.5 sec per day. After my Chronomat came back from BUSA for service work, it was running -3 sec a day, but when it came back after it's 3rd service trip, it was back to about +0.5 sec per day.

From my experience, the B01 movement is extremely consistent. However, based on the environment you have the watch in, how much you wear it, how you store it, etc, your results may vary from mine. Again, this is why the only guarantee you have is COSC spec.

My Chronomat 01 used to run at +2s per day, but it had to go for a warranty repair as the chrono was not resetting correctly. It's now back with me and the chrono is fixed, but it is running -9s per day! :(

Thank you all for the responses. Have any of you been able to have you 01 movement adjusted at the AD (assuming watch specialist on staff)? I only read about folks sendin their watches back.

It seems to me that the small +- screw is fairly easy to reach once the back is open?

Thank you all again.

There's a difference between being able to access the adjustment and knowing how to do it / validating timing, etc.

ADs with trained watchmakers on staff and the right equipment should be able to regulate for position, temperature, isochronism, etc but I'm not sure what Breitling's policy is on regulating the 01 movement at an AD.

The local AD in Seattle won't touch the B01 movement at all. They send it back to BUSA for everything. I'm not sure if this is the same for all AD's or not, though.

Every Breitling AD I've come across in the UK in recent years won't touch ANY movement, B01 or otherwise. All regulations go back to BUK in my experience.

In order to be called a Chronometer under Swiss watch making standards, the movement must be certified by an independent agency - COSC - as timing within -4/+6 seconds/day. All Breitling movements are certified and the watches qualify as Chronometers. Same thing with Rolex when you see "Superlative Chronometer" on the dial. Those movements were submitted to COSC and certified.

The 01 movment is certified By COSC as all other Breitling movements are and the watches it is placed in are Chronometers. The fact it is in-house does not necessarily mean it is more accurate than a stock ETA Chronometer grade movement.

Many environmental factors effect the timing of an automatic watch. Therefore the watch may have left the factory balls on accurate +/- 0, but each customer's experience will vary slightly.

Theoretically, any Breitling movement (or even a lower grade stock ETA movement) is capable of being regulated to +/- 0 secs/day. But it is unrealistic to expect that accuracy to last.

Some higher end watch makers do not bother with COSC at all and their own in house tests of fully assembled watches far exceed the testing of the movement done by COSC. Yet they are not permitted to label the watch a Chronometer. Those watches would still be a chronometer(small "c"), meaning a highly accurate time piece, but not a Chronometer (capital "C"), meaning certified by COSC.

If you want a watch with 1 sec/month tolerances, quartz is your only choice. But THAT'S no choice now is it?

Well you could get a mechanical piece regulated to + / - 0 on a winder in a climate controlled environment and then never touch it.

Perfect. Mounted on the wall with it's own designated lighting. As it should be.
