Just to clarify. BUK provides excellent service. The turned my battered CA in to a new watch! Great customer service to boot. However, I've only used them the once.

For those who are still interested in this issue, I wanted to provide an update.

Although I've been a staunch advocate for Breitling's customer service, my most recent experience has left less upbeat than I once was. BUSA has had my watch for nearly three weeks and I didn't get an update until today. The technical director of the After Service Sales department was personally tending to my watch. Since the time I sent my watch back, I've left him 4 voice mails with no response. Because of this experience, I also got to know my respective customer service rep who I always got transferred to. As the technical director was handling my repairs, Breitling's computer system was not being updated and she could tell me absolutely nothing about what was happening to my watch. In her defense, she sent the technical director several emails about my inquiries. Thus, I have to put this lack of communication on his shoulders, not on the general customer service team.

In any case, I FINALLY got through to the technical director today. He advised they are unable to properly repair the chronograph and have ordered a new movement from Switzerland. He initially offered to replace the entire head of the watch, but as the caseback is engraved and the watch has extreme sentimental value to me, I could not let this happen. I would rather have a jacked up chronograph than a new watch entirely. Yes, I could have had the new watch re-engraved, but it wouldn't be the same to me.

In the end, I do feel Breitling is doing the right thing by replacing the movement, although I wish this would have occurred after the 2nd or 3rd time back. Regardless, a little more proactive communication would have been appreciated this time around. I'll let you know how this all ends up.

-Craig

They offered to replace the head and are replacing the movement. I know it has been a long haul for you, but I am quite pleased to see now what BUSA has offered. :cheer:

It looks like you get the best of both worlds: the watch that means so much to you, and a properly functioning movement. It was a long haul, but in the end, things seem to be working out for the best. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for the support, Sharkman and JacksonStone. I do wish Breitling wouldn't have left me hanging for three weeks, but I'm glad they finally came to this decision. If nothing else, I get to prolong the $750 routine maintenance trip another two years :D .

I guess that I have mixed feelings about this. Clearly a good sign that the movement is being replaced, and to be fair to BUSA it may have taken some time to get approval from Switzerland (although they should still have kept you informed).

It just concerns me that this can't be fixed - maybe it is truly just a lemon, but do appear to be a relatively high number of reported problems with this movement so far and I do wonder whether there is an inherent flaw that is proving difficult to fix - implying a design problem rather than a construction issue.

Regardless, let's hope that you finally get the watch that you should have had in the first place without any more drama and without too much longer of a delay.

Roff, you bring up an interesting point. If I recall correctly, most of the issues with the B01 movement that people here have experienced revolve around the chronograph. Perhaps there really is some fatal design flaw. I can definitely tell you that I've been running the heck out of my Navi 01 chronograph.

I'm an extremely meticulous person, especially with mechanical things, so I also wonder if others have chronograph issues and simply aren't noticing them. Had I not been playing with my chrono while I was mindlessly bored on an airplane, I may have never noticed the problem. I can't say there are many folks who watch their chrono to ensure it flawlessly executes all 240 ticks while sweeping around the dial. Perhaps I shouldn't have shared that . . . I swear I'm only marginally crazy.

I think I forgot to mention that I actually noticed a NEW issue right before I sent my watch in three weeks ago. When I started the chrono, the hand would ever so slightly move BACKWARDS prior to initiating forward movement. I was literally boxing it up when I discovered this.

I do hope I just had a lemon. It was one of the first production units made, so perhaps the manufacturing equipment settings weren't quite right.

. . . yet :?
What's odd is that on some revolutions, my chrono would skip and other revolutions it would not. Also, there were days when I couldn't get the dang thing to mess up at all regardless of how many times I restarted it. I really think it was a fluke that I found the issue at all, but once I did, I became obsessed with the issue (clearly). I don't wish this on anyone and would like to believe it's the exception. Anyway, I hope yours keeps running strong. My Navi 01 is good so far as well.

Cute play on words there Pete!

Glad to hear that this is being resolved to your satisfaction. Hopefully you'll have it back soon.

. . . a ling haul indeed. If I remember correctly, didn't you have an issue with the chrono minute counter jumping ahead when you started the chrono on your Navi 01?

Glad this whole case is looking like it's being resolved as it should have been long time ago.

I've had my B01 since early January 2010 (produced late October 2009) and I've had no problem whatsoever. I hope that there will be no "yet" added in the last sentence. I run my Chrono not too often, but regularly. That's at least 2 or 3 a month for about 6 to 9 hours each time and, of course, every time I fly which is about 4 flights per month.

I wonder if all those problems announced on the forum have anything to do with the date of manufacture, indicating perhaps a bad series of production.

When was yours produced bozman52?

When we were touring the b01 factory 2 days ago I asked about this. If they find a certain issue, they will make running changes to the movement. Because they manufacture all the parts there,it's not a huge deal to fix if they discover the problem.

They do some SERIOUS testing to these things, if there is a design flaw, they will find it. I've seen other factories and the b01 facility and process is quite impressive.
