OK, so a friend of mine has asked for some assistance with a watch and it's proving harder that I expected.

Requirements are:

38mm+
Round
SS case
White dial - not silver
Black romans
Date
"Attractive" (not boring) hands
"Attractive" (not just plain) hands
Reasonable price - let's say sub $2,000
3 hand / non chrono - I guess 'dress like', but doesn't have to specifically be a dress watch

He's not a watch guy so not overly concerned about quartz / automatic / manual

The white dial is proving problematic - it pretty much eliminates Longines. There are some Raymond Weil and Fredrique Constant options, but any other suggestions???

This might be silver though.

Yep.

There is a whiter dial (still somewhat silver) Classima, but it has silver romans.

This is still silver, but close to white and in the size and price range. It's hard to find pure white.

Don't I know it.

Sinn make one, but no guilloche and it looks very stark.

Your friend is a wee bit picky. Have him look at Longines in person. Their dials do not look that silver to me as they do online and all his requirements are otherwise met by multiple watches they have.

I've seen some of his stuff at Barney's...

Couldn't find any with with Romans but plenty of white dialed ones there...

edit: one more

Tell him to throw an extra Zero on his budget and pick up one of these.

Stowa makes what they call 'white' dials in their Marine range. Both arabic and roman numeral dials available, but not sure if all options have date. Very simple dial design with blued hands.

Haven't seen them in person but pictures on the forums show what looks like actual white dial.

Just throwing stuff out here and I may go "off the beaten path" a bit. It's Sunday, and my mind wanders.

An Ebel Classic, maybe? Lots of Ebels dip below 2K for actual sale price and seem to center around the 38 mm range.

Should we assume new? Might be able to find a pre-owned Chronoswiss, but the date complication may be tricky. Does a Kairos have one? Spot-on at 38 mm, though.

Does he need a "name"? D. Freemont has several interesting pieces in that size range with ornate hands and unique touches. Little company, great to work with.

Closest thing I could find to a white dial in that range with black romans was this:

Thanks for the suggestions guys - I agree that white is a bit picky, but heck - his money, his choice.

I had completely forgotten about some of these ideas though!!
