I am new to this Forum, however since the short time I have been here I have seen you guys post more Fakes off ebay than I have had hot dinners. The stories that come with it is just as sickening.

Example:

My grandad died, left me a Breitling Bentley..need the cash.

Selling Navitimer..need to repair house.

Is there no way to have a Name and shame wall of known people that are cheating others out of there hard earned cash pretending to sell a 100% ligit watch when to be honest I think they know it's fake.

Was just my idear.

I think that you are misunderstanding what he is saying, he is saying that members are responsible for removing fakes.

I don't see much point in listing ebay IDs, just look ta how many are low feedback / zero feedback sellers - accounts created to peddle fakes and if they get banned the person doesn't care.

In terms of this forum, there is no one who has attempted to sell a fake who is still a member of the site and we have a sticky at the top of the Buy / Sell / Trade section with details of attempted fraudsters.

I meant the part " You Guy's" in agood way. I think it's fantastic what you do, in my eyes it's daily light robbery trying to flog something off that isn't real..if you want to sell a fake on ebay so be it...just be honest about it and sell it for what it's worth and don't give the stupied fairy tales with it.

Speaking of which, what happened with the guy with the fake SA blacksteel? I assume he was terminated with extreme prejudice, but could we have his screen name again for future reference?

Not sure if a wall of shame is needed. Just check the replica forum here and youll soon figure out how long that list would be.

I had the same exact reaction when I first read the initial post but big thanks to Roff for the quick clarification. :D

I believe that the vast majority of people on Ebay and on watch forum sites like Breitlingsource are good honest people. It's a big planet. There are good and bad people everywhere. What I try to do is focus on the good but at the same time realize that I have to be careful about who I deal with.

You'll never see the username (emoneytsu) here again.

I belong to a lot of forums, breitling source is by far the best when it comes to spotting fakes and they do not tolerate it here at all !!!!!! Steve

I went looking for that thread when I logged on at work this morning, was interested to see the result but wasn't surprised when I couldn't find it.

It's nice to know that the buy section on BS is closely monitored and there are experts who can fish out the fakes.
I have far more confidence in buying a watch here than I would on the bay.

chiming in, as this is a subject I have raised in the past.

"Current" fakes are mostly listed by low-to-zero feedback sellers on ebay who establish a virtual identity for on or two quick ripoff attempts, maybe try to push up prices with some shill bidding and then rabbit as fast as they can.

"Naming and Shaming" those makes little sense, we are all doing quite a good job in keeping these fraudsters at bay.

The "vintage" arena is a completely different story. Several ebay sellers are doing brisk business in fraudulently fake "vintage Breitling" pieces, the China threehands are selling well, we see forum newbies getting ripped off quite frequently.

A good example is seller *a*a*a*a*a* (feedback Score 4401, 99.4%), currently listing (and selling) 1,251 items, among them 9 "Breitlings":
http://shop.ebay.com/*a*a*a*a*a*/m.html ... m270.l1313

or this one, ybl worldstore, top seller:
http://shop.ebay.com/ybl.worldstore/m.h ... m270.l1313

There are several others from China, many from Turkey, Italy, Germany, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, and, sorry to say, some from the US; all making a living by ripping people off with vintage fabrications.

Getting them off the bay by reporting them is tough, Roff and I sometimes try it, but are only successful with the most pathetic cases, mostly it is a waste of time. Most of my "vintage laughs of the week" sell for about 10 times their true value.

This forum is considered the place to turn to for advice on Breitling authenticity, but listing all the vintage fakes is impossible.
A blacklist of untrustworthy sellers of vintage watches would help (vintage) newbies and all of us interested in vintage watches.

I voiced the "name and shame" idea before, but the risk of litigation is too high in the US and Canada.

Spoke to my attorney in Austria (Chicago Law, King´s College, Vienna, St. Gallen; so he should know), who sees no legal problem to host such a "name and shame" list on my servers in Austria, let me know what you think about this ?

Fred
