I'm curious as to how durable the movement of the watch is, and will playing golf hurt it at all? I've read a lot on this forum already about how the Navitimer is basically not even hardly water resistant and shouldnt EVER been submersed, so I'm starting to have my doubts on its durability as a whole... I'd like to think its durable enough to play golf in though, correct me if I'm wrong?

OsearyDrakoulias I understand you concerns. But let us lay down the facts. Durability is a function of attributes! In other words, you can not say that a navitimer is not durable because it will not withstand a deep dive. It was not made for that in the first place. So to have a fair assessment for anything we should start by asking what was it made for.

Then you have two aspects to really assess:

1-Reliability: the consistency in and assurance that it will deliver exactly what it says it will do (so for example, if your watch keeps time within the range of COSC, then you can safely say it is reliable).

2-Durability: for how long it will keep delivering that promise without the need for servicing or maintenance (and if your watch works as it was meant to work for let’s say 5 years without the need for anything except the auto and/or manual winding, then it is durable).

Having said that, it is fair to ask yourself what was the datora made for and assess it against the above.

I myself own the same datora, and I will never take it under water and I will not risk subjecting the movement to deep and harsh shocks of golf playing, but this does not mean at all that it is not an excellent watch. As a matter of fact you should be very proud that you have made an excellent choice.

A superavenger on your wrist will add 30 yards to your drives

no, I wear a quartz digital for golf......stands to reason not to subject it to sudden shocks.

Very true. I wasnt planning on wearing it to play, but I thought I'd ask incase it was without question not a bad idea to do it. I know now that the navi wasnt made for diving, which I never intended to use it for, but its always nice to know you have that safety measure behind you if it happens to become submerged for whatever reason. Thanks for the info! much appreciated as always.

lol, funny you mention that... I'm already considering buying a black dial SA as a second breitling after how much I love my Datora. I think I'm hooked. :)

I played golf in my B-Class yesterday and had the bracelet lock up 90 degrees from the watch, didn't notice it until I scratched myself. Somehow it turned up and stayed, no idea, so don't think the impact affected the watch as much as the bracelet. Pushed and pushed, got it back in place, will wear again to see what happens (under warranty) but strange.

I dont like wearing my Lings to play golf.. most of them are too heavy and when I bend my wrist the crowns dig in... I just take the watch off... or I suppose you could get one of those Tiger Woods Golf watches

I switched to opposite hand to offset that, didn't notice the weight at all, but I always wear a bracelet of some kind, so used to weight.

And I don't swing as hard as guys trying to kill it!

Any idea why bracelet would flip and lock up? It was rather hard to push back down, don't see anything lose

I would not wear any mechanical watch for golfing. The impact can seriously damage any watch.
