Does anybody know anything about the Breitling TransOcean that was in the Baselword 2011.

Movement
Breitling Caliber 01, officially chronometer-certified by the CosC, selfwinding, high-frequency (28,800 vibrations per hour), 47 jewels. over 70-hour power reserve.

Functions
1/4th of a second chronograph, 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers. Calendar.

Case
steel or 18K red gold. water-resistant to 100 m (330 ft/10 bars). Convex sapphire crystal, glareproofed on both sides.
Transparent sapphire crystal caseback. Diameter: 43 mm.

Dials
Black or Mercury silver.

Straps/Bracelets
Barenia leather, crocodile leather, ocean classic (steel version only).

Apparently it's available in Antwerpen at the moment, a Breitling I wouldn't hesitate to buy. Was wondering what everybody else thought.

I think its a lovely watch. From memory it was released as a limited edition last year and now in unlimited (?). The general consensus is that its very pricey for what you get. There are a few owners on the forum that will no doubt chime in.

Quite a few discussions on the TransOcean (chrono was actually announced before BaselWorld, three hand version at the show). Search function will show them up.

Phenomenal demand for these apparently. I heard it could be up to 6 - 7 months delivery as things are. I'm still waiting for an LE - nearly 4 months and counting....

That'll be why I've yet to see a single one at any AD local to me. And that includes the LE version which has been out for some time longer than the standard TOC model.

Hopefully, if demand is seriously strong, it might make Breitling realise that slightly more conservative "re-imaginings" of classic pieces are the way forward, instead of swathes of DLC and red rubber.

Hmmm. I've seen and handled both LE versions, the non-LE Chrono (silver dial with gray subs), and the non-chrono - silver as well as black dials. There has been at least 2 TOs in the display case where I go for over 6 months .

I am in the distinct minority here - the watch does nothing for me, but I can understand why it is drooled over. Just not my cup of tea. Price is :wowzers

a local AD has a non LE transocean chrono and it HAS the display back, which I was shocked at, but it is only £100 cheaper than the LE

Although I am usually drawn to the sport chronos, I handled an LE version at my AD a few weeks ago and was thoroughly impressed. It was stunning and pure class in my opinion. :D

out of interest why is it way over priced? I have looked for other inhouse chrono's and this seems like a good price compared to what else is out there. but i am new to the watch game so i might have missed some obvious other options

I know the steel LE with Ocean Classic was GBP6210 RRP before any price rise after June 10th. So I guess around 6500 euros RRP maybe?

I heard that over 900 of the 2000 LE's were pre-sold in the USA. That was by mid-march. I think decent discounts will therefore be hard to get by now due to current demand. I said it before - this is gong to become a future classic..

Well, i found the Transocean to be the watch that i liked the most from the current line up, hence why purchased the LE version.

From the first time i saw it on the Breitling email, i just felt like it was worth me pulling the trigger and getting it. As someone posted earlier, it is a watch of class, just really stands out and for me, just suits me nicely on my wrist while i go out and meet friends.

Obviously, seeing it in person would be best, as pictures dont do it justice. :)

IMO Breitling is not on the level as some of the other luxury watch makers. Correct me if I am wrong but doesnt this watch retail for 20k? Personally I would never spend 20k on a Breitling regardless of the in house piece. Are you saying that Breitling is comparable to brands like JLC or Panerai or Rolex?? Like i said nice watch, but over priced. I am not saying they dont have the right to ask for whatever they want....im just saying if I had an extra 20k to spend this wouldnt even be on my radar. And im pretty sure im not the only one who feels like this.
