Over the past few years I have collected a fair few Lings, most are automatics and a few quartz models. The issue I have is what's the best way to store them, up until now I've been keeping them in a safe and occasionally take them out, wind them up and put them back!

As some are brand new and not ever worn, will they get enough lubrication and what happens to the lume on the hands if they rarely see light? I know there are many collectors in this forum and I welcome your advice.

Make a point to wind them all 40+ turns once a month. (I actually take the timeto set the correct time and date as well, but its not important. If they are a chrono, start the chrono every few months and let it run a full 24 hours.

Nothing. Sitting in a safe (or box) with no light, shouldn't cause any problems for the lume.

Otherwise buy a multi watch winder and leave them on it all the time.

I would run the chrono for 24 hours a month - just leave it running and then it will run on a monthly full wind, but broadly speaking......... :yeahthat

That's great advice, thank you both. I have a single winder but think I'll wind them up till I save up enough!

Running the chrono is not mandatory but advisable.

What are the risks involved if you don't or if you run it for only 2 or 3 a month?

As discussed before, the oils can migrate away from where they are needed.
