Hello All,
I am new to the Breitling forum, especially "vintage"...I just bought this at auction and would appreciate any information you may have concerning this particular model, year , model # etc.

Thanks David

This was a reissue that was the first watch released by 'new Breitling'. The original Breitling company folded in 1978 - a victim of the quartz revolution. The rights to the name and some other assets were purchased by Ernst Schneider and he started putting out watches in 1984. This piece falls in that 1978 - 1984 window, I think about 1981 / 82.

Not sure that it ever had any particular model designation as it was always intended to be a temporary 'bridge' until the new pieces were ready for series production.

How hard are the re-issues to come across in the secondary market?

I have looked thru some of the old threads of these and they look really nice and I think the story behind them is sort of interesting. Being an 80's baby this is about as close as I can get to a cool vintage birthyear watch.

They don't come up too often because across all of the versions there were probably less than 1,000 produced, but they appear two or three imes a year.

In a perfect world I could find the moon phase non-chrono version, but from the sound of it that is not likely. Bummer

i just picked it up...it is awesome, seems a lot bigger than the 36mm indicated, it is on a "lousy" band. Does someone have a picture showing the band and buckle it came with?

Thanks again for all the information...

David

Here are some "quick" photos of the actual watch...

Looks even better in a live photo. I have to find one of these in the future. Just a great looking dress watch with a cool story.

Out of curiosity were you looking for this particular model or just happen to come across this?
