I'm wondering if anyone out there are aviators that actually fly with these timepieces. Any pros/cons that you have would be great. I'm looking to buy one but am worried about knocking it around too much. Thanks!

Mine definitely gets knocked about a bit with the corresponding scratches. There are all kinds of things to bump it against in the cockpit - especially when reaching for the center consul or the seat adjustment controls. Won't be as big of a problem when I move to the left seat.

This is why I use only my Colt GMT as a work watch. This is also why my COLT GMT get polished a lot more often than the rest of my watches.

when you move to the left seat you still get scratches from reaching into your nav bag, although not as brutal as the comm pedestal.

Thats why you guys should drive choppers....less adjusting (and more hovering!).

Up until I put a six inch gash in the heloicopters skin I alwasy flew with my CA. The Ti and brushed finish was great never noticed any issues. But I can attest to the Ti being much stronger than the aircraft aluminum. The techs won't let me fly with my Breitling now. Although I sneek it on anways.

I have flown with all of my Lings. They defintely hold up to the beating of the cockpit. Unlike other watches, they get scuffed much easier than they get scratched. And the "scuffs" can be buffed out.

Yep I flew with mine no issues. Aerospace, worked well in an F16 and CF18. Yes it did get scratches on the titanium but not on the crystal. The viper was the worst when you went outboard with the throttle for afterburner, it would bang the metal protrusions.

I now have an CF-18 Limited Edition Airwolf, which never flew but got scratch day one in the pool teaching my kids flip turns! On the other side of things a friend of mine who also got a CF-18 Limited Edition Airwolf and one week after getting it, ejected at an Airshow. That was July 2010, most of you probably saw the pictures since he ejected in front of photographer row! The watch came out with no injuries! He, was a little banged up.

Morale of the story, don't worry about scratches, use your watch to its fullest! They are tools for proffesionals, they don't belong in a vault (unless you are wearing another Breitling!)

My Big Brother that is a Pilot for KLM airlines does fly with his Navitimer, however he says it more that he likes breitling due to it's history than it's aviation functions because all modern commerical planes have them I'm sure the Boeing 747 he flys is true to this.

Secondly it's my personal belief a watch doesn't live unless worn, yes it will get scratches and this will worn or that. But you wouldn't buy a Ferrari just to say you have one and leave it in the Garage would you? same goes for a wristwatch in my opinion. Wear it and love it...and if you want in the end sell it and replace it.

Thanks for the replies guys... Especially the military bubbas. Our flying could be a little harder on the watch than your standard cessna or 737. Happy hunting.
