Hello all,

What if my watch stops during 8-3am? Should I proceed to change time out of this range first before adjusting the date? Example, say my watch stops at 9pm, should I move it to say 6am clock position to avoid any damages and change date. I know in the manual, changing date is one step ahead of time change/adjust. Hope this makes sense and looking forward to advise. Thanks

Fully wind the watch, move the time forward until it is no longer in the danger zone, then change the date to the date prior....then move the time forward until it is set properly.

This happens to me all the time. I think this is a terrible feature of this watch and should be fixed. The date on my B4B has already broken twice and had to be serviced. First time at a cost of $800, second time it was free since still under service warranty. I am very careful about this, but I think it sucks. Almost reason enough to not own anything with such an "engineering flaw"

Hmmmmm...then 95% of chronographs in existence have an engineering flaw. Really, it's a very simple rule to follow and exists for a valid reason. Except in some movements that have adopted an instant date change, the physics of the movement means gears are engaging and and a process is in play.

It's only a design flaw if the watch is misused. Much like my Android's lack of water resistance is only a design flaw if I jump in the pool with it in my pocket.

Dude, seriously? It's a very simple rule. If you can't handle it, you might want to consider getting out of the mechanical watch game.

Yeah, sorry, but not much sympathy there. The 6.75 date didn't break - you broke it through not following the instructions in the manual.

Sharkman's Android analogy is pretty apt.

Yeah, that.

On a side note now I know why my phone keeps breaking. Thanks sharky.

Touché.

Jibba,

Didn't mean to be too harsh - you just had an interesting way to describe breaking your watch.

Just buy a Breitling with an inhouse movement and you won't have to worry about the 8-3 rule. :D

is that true? the in house movements do not have this trouble?

For the record i have never broken my watch. I am aware of the danger zone rule and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to follow it. I bought the watch pre-owned and realized a few days later there was a problem. I sent it to BUSA for service at a cost of $800 (live and learn). After service, the date changed as expected, but the date wheels didnt line up perfectly on certain dates. I sent it back to breitling for re-serviceing and since its have worked flawlessly. My only point was...it would be nice not to have to worry about ruining the watch by making what could be a simple/careless mistake.

Are all automatic chronos like this??
