Hi,
I am getting a deal on an avenger Sewolf from my local AD, the thing is i remember seeing a similar avenger seawolf black dial with black leather strap with him earlier a month ago & he told me its his customer's watch, after that i never saw it in the AD again for a while could be a month as i have been going to the AD frequently to make up my mind if i want one of the new models, today he(AD) tells me the avenger seawolf is with him in stock but he insists its not the same one which he said earlier belongs to a customer, how do i check if its a used watch? how do i know if it has been opened & serviced? is there a mark behind breitling caseback that tells you the caseback has been opened? the omegas have it in a form of a Red Dot, he is giving me warranty & everything, am i getting paranoid & should just pick it up?

Thanks..

Probably getting paranoid. I know of no marks like the Omega red dot.

There's no equivalent of the red dot, and yes you are being paranoid. If the watch comes from an AD and the paperwork is filled in with the date that you buy it then it's new.

An AD is not going to risk their contract to carry Breitling to try and make a few hundred bucks off of you.

I agree with the above. I wouldn't worry if I was purchasing from an AD. Another type of dealer on the other hand...

I got a very strange feeling its the same avenger seawolf i saw 1-2months ago, cause in between that time he got new stock of watches & he didn't have the avenger seawolf with him when the new stock arrived which was a week back. The seawolf just pops back up today with him that's why i am having my doubts, could it be a customer returned piece that he is trying to resell to me? that's why i m bit paranoid. i asked him about it if its a customer return piece & how it just poped up with him, he said its a new piece & not to worry, he said he kept it aside for a customer who later backed off. Should i believe him?

Thanks for the help guys..

Again....it an AD .....stop worrying about it. The warranty card is unique to the watch. It is very common for a dealer to pull a watch from a new shipment and hold it for a interested customer. If they back out it gets put back in the case or in the safe for later. My AD has a ton of new Breitlings in the safe and they get them out if their display doesn't have exactly what I might be looking for. They often "pull" watches for mea and holdthey them untilout I can see them as well. Stop over thinking this.

I agree with the others, I can't imagine an AD would risk trying to pass off a second hand watch as new. However, many watches bought have often been sat for some time and as long as you get a warranty and it's unmarked, there's nothing to worry about. Interesting to know the AD though, I've always used Andrew Michaels in Newark - you can't ask for better service!

Ok, will tell you abit more in detail then you will see why i am abit worried, the AD is a multi brand AD store over here, They have cartier, breitling etc, there is also a Omega standalone showroom right next to it, both the multi brand & omega showroom is by the same parent company swiss paradise who are the official AD for most the brands over here(asia), Now the AD who showed me the avenger seawolf is the Omega AD store manager, who i know very well as i bought couple of watches from him, i remember seeing the same watch at the Multi brand AD 1-2months back & now its with the Omega AD, He told me that the customer had told them to keep it aside & backed off so He is giving it to his other store branch which sells Multi brands too, all the staff in these stores work for the same parent company, so sometimes you see them interchange from store to store. So as long as i get the watch with the warranty card, papers & authorise AD stamp i shouldn't bother? Sorry for not giving these details in first post as i thought will confuse everyone

I agree 100% with what the others have stated here but it seems this is really bothering you so I would pass on this watch and buy it somewhere else

Same answer as the previous two times.

It's a freaking AD for crying out loud.

If you aren't happy walk away, but no AD is going to risk their ability to sell Breitlings by trying to pass off a used one as new. If the watch has the warranty card (which as BroncoSport noted is unique to the watch) and the card is filled in with your purchase date then you have a new watch.

Bought the ling today, avenger seawolf black dial on black leather strap, got the warranty card with dealers stamp & date,
The cosc certificate was not in the box with the remaining thingies, i called the dealer & he said he will look for it,
i guess they don't keep them with the boxes, i will call him tom to remind him about it, is it ok if he can;t find the certificate?
should i make it a big deal?

thanks a ton guys for all the help, the forum ROCKS :lingsrock:

You can get a replacement certificate from Breitling if needed, but the AD should supply it (and certainly pay for the replacement if they can't find it).
