I would have demanded my money back after its second trip to BUSA.

The Lemon Law is probably in affect here - legally, you should be able to demand your money back.

These posts just reinforce my decision to avoid Breitling in the near future for watch purchases.

Sad.

I've looked into the lemon laws in my state (Washington), but they seem to only apply to cars. Do the laws have restrictions like this or are they open to all purchased items?

bozman52 any chance you can just stand outside the AD with a sign saying your bought a lemon? and tell everyone who is about to walk into the store to make a purchase your story. i think if you stepped to this level the owner would come outside with a stack of cash and beg you to leave.

Perhaps this would work. In all honestly, as much as I dislike this AD, it's really not their issue. I hold Breitling solely responsible for this one. Also, I haven't given the AD a fair chance to make it right by me, not that I think they would anyway. I don't plan on ever buying a watch from him again anyway, especially since we have other stellar AD's, such as Govberg and Provident, on the forum.

buddy if i lived in the USA i would be broke because all my money would go to either Govberg or Provident....lol.

all jokes aside...i hope that everything works out. NO ONE deserves to spend that much money on luxury item and have it not work the way its suppose to.

Responding to both matters -

1. when you say it skips do you mean it just jumps from 37-41 in one move? Does it hold at 37 for 4 seconds and then jump ahead 4 seconds? At this point Breitling should replace the entire movement and I would send it straight to the HQ and not Hanger 7.

2. As to the other point, "zero tolerance" is simply code for, "Already got you civil rights dude. Winning."

Sharkman, I missed this post somehow; I apologize for not responding.

The chronograph hand does not jump from 37-41 in a single move. Normally, the hand moves in 1/4 second increments around the dial. Between the 37 and 41 markers, it moves in 1/2 second increments, but to one's eyes, the hand appears to be "skipping," almost as if it's hanging up on something. The explanation BUSA gave me last time was that the tension in the spring, which maintains the side play between the chronograph gears, needs to be increased. It was too loose and is allowing the gears to slip. However, they claimed the chronograph still kept accurate time even with this issue.

In case anyone was planning on giving Breitling SA a call (as I just did), you'll have to wait until June 6 when they return to work from the Ascension holiday.

I'm really starting to think I'm just not supposed to own a Breitling . . .

Yeah, at least if you are European there's a shot you can afford a nice watch.
