How many years did Rolex make this watch? Is it considered limited edition?

I think it was started in 2003 and finished in 2010 but its not a lmt. ed. more like lmt. run or clever rolex marketing what ever way you look at it. Others will confirm run dates.

I believe the 16610 LV was replaced by the green dial version, which debuted at Basel 2010.

I'm not 100% sure of the start date, but 2003 sounds about right. It was originally claimed to be a limited edition (not a numbered edition, but certainly a limited run), but when it proved popular it suddenly became NOT a limited run............ which was somewhat annoying for people like me who had been on a wait list for ages, and then had to pay full list price for one, because "these are limited edition sir, and once they're gone you'll never see them again". :roll:

I believe production has now (finally) stopped with the introduction of the new ceramic green bezel / green dial version as brianmichaelj said.

The 16610LV started as early as a Y-series with the "fat 4" and the ovalized O on the dial which is slightly more rare. I think production stopped at V-series but, there might be a scrambled series floating around as well. I don't think anyone could call them particularly rare anymore.

Production ended in 08 started in 03 I think. I had one sold it for a GMTIIC, it is not a limited edition and wont be a collectors item. The market is kinda crazy at the moment on them hence why I sold mine for almost $500 more than I bought it for a year ago, then that dealer put it up for a ridiculous $6400 price tag and it has sat. Its kinda like the "Coke GMT" million of them are made, your better off trying to collect a BMW 3 series if you catch my drift.

Also a warning I wouldn't buy a flat 4 unless you intend on not wearing it, yes it is the only "collectable" version since it was only made for a short run. But if you scratch the bezel or send it in for service the RSC will replace it and it might not be a flat 4 anymore....

I would be of the opinion that it may hold its value very well and more so that any other model. I think I read some where it had a run of 300,000 units.
