Hi all

Well my local AD has a Breitling Watch event happening!

AND they have every new model from Basel 2011 in house.....even variations. 60 items........

My Eyes My Eyes!!!!!!!!

OK so

I was hoping to love the Chronospace Auto. It looks nice in Black, but the graphite/grey dial is errrrr and the white/silver with black Sub's is also less appealing than I hoped.

ANY of the models with the red bezels are probably 100% better without them. Truly.

The Navitimer 1461 is very nice on the black leather, but it's £7500... :nana:

I wanted to buy, even before I'd seen one, the Blacksteel code yellow. But not after trying one on.

The Chronomat GMT is SPECIAL!!!!! HUGE and yummy and way too expensive for me.

The one I'd have walked out with......

Monty Legende Ltd Ed black dial silver/black subs. £5k + but very very nice indeed.....tooooo nice.

So my AD then gave me a very nice goodie bag with Pure Breitling catalog, a pen and a penknife. I think everyone looking at the new models get's one!

Also, they said that should anyone order one of the new models this week, they "Should." Be 1st in line when the new models hit the shores.

So if you are near Eastbourne......... :superman:

Davey

Hi Serge,

Sorry, that cost was on Croc, but it looked leather...... :(

I was also told to expect a price increase on 1st June....we all knew that I think. But I heard the worst rise is on the SuperOcean.....12%......

I'm slowly getting priced out of looking into my AD's window.

Davey

Sounds like a great day Davey, pricing really is getting silly though.

couldnt agree more Roff. Breitling use to be a go to brand for style and price. but now its just got out of control.

+1 To me anyway, you have to call it a day at a price point and now, IMO, Breitling has cross it. i still can't get my head around it, seems to me they are pricing themselves out of the market. More at less $ rather that less at more $ in the current climate you would have thought would make more sence?

i use to feel that Breitling was serious bang for the buck. sure even without the in house movements (not that im an expert) they still made a visually pleasing well built mechanical watch that i could justify spending anywhere from 3500 - 7000 dollars on. but now with the way the company is going and the price points i would much rather look at brands that would be considered more exclusive. its almost like they are trying to become something they are not known for.

i had a conversation with a friend of mine recently, and i completely trust his opinion on watches. he brought up something that stuck in my head. he said that breitling is a tier 3 company at best. and when you think about it its true. with the price increase why would anyone spend close to 10k for a navi on bracelet and if they end up selling that they would be lucky to end up with 3500 - 4000 used. honestly i just dont think they have the cult like following of companies like PP, Rolex, Panerai or AP.

Tiers just meaning how these watch companies would rank. We were just saying that compared to the other luxury watch brands breitling would be on the third tier so to speak.

Breitling is a tier 2 watch brand IMHO and I think some people are just harsh on it because they (like me) havent liked some of the style changes recently and the increases in price. On that 2nd point, I get the feeling that if you managed to purchase a 1st year B01 manufactured piece early last year or when they first came out, youve probably done real well IMHO.

IMO tier one would be companies like Patek or AP. Breitling comes NO WHERE close to these 2. Got nothing to do with designs. To be honest i dont like 98% of Patek designs but you cant argue the fact that they are a huge step up from anything breitling offers. They also cost significantly more money too
