There are now 3 different Airwolf models availabe from Breitling, the first was the Turbine dial model 07/08 which was the immediate replacement for the B1, this was then followed, very briefly, by the pin stripe version (which I own) in 2008/2009, then lastly by the Airwolf Raven 2010 - Present day. I was wondering which version was the forum favourite, I owned the Turbine dial model and even though it looked stunning it was difficult to tell the time as the hands got lost on the dial. For me the black bezel on the Raven model makes the watch look ordinary so I went with the pin stripe version.......

I am not a fan of the skeleton minute hand (minor issue) on the pin stripe version and also don't care for the 'star burst' dial of the previous model - distracts from the readability.

I would prefer the original B1 but after that I would go for the Airwolf Raven model if I had to choose.

Your right about the skeleton hand although that was only the case on the early pin-stripe models, I'm reliably informed that Breitling will change the hands free of charge to the solid version at the first service/battery change.

The pinstripe non raven Airwolf is the best of the bunch, but not quite the best replacement of the B-1 imo.

The B-1 is simply the best SQ model Breitling has ever made.

According to my AD, the raven bezel can be switched out with a stainless one at BUSA for a change of pace...I might go that route when it's time for a service.

The pin stripe dial with the solid minute hand is the best Airwolf imo.

I couldn't live with the skeleton minute hand version.

Nick.

Pin-stripe with steel bezel is the best IMO as I have no issue with skeleton hands. Quickly followed by the sun-burst dial. Personally I really dislike the Raven models as I hate rubber bezels, so that one comes last.

However, the best Airwolf's IMO are the logo models (such as the Reno LE) as they have totally flat dials like the B1, and markers instead of cut-off numbers at 3, 6 and 9. Much the best.

I love my black pinstripe dial version! Not only for all Wolf's great functions, but for it's ability to look great on a variety of straps from dressy to sporty and everything in between, I love it's versatility!

I switch between Pin stripe and Turbine depending on dial colour.

Pin stripe silver dial as you have looks superb, but I think grey turbine dial is my favourite, although the turbine blades can cause confusion against the hands in the wrong light.

Love the Raven, black dial on ocean racer for me. I'm in the minority here I think, I like the rubber bezel.

My photography skills probably don't do the Silver dial pinstripe Airwolf credit, check out this picture taken by Damnfoolman from this forum. (Posted with his kind permission of course) 8)

Don't forget about the 4th version, the Limited edition. :) I have owned the starbust and pinstripe dial in the past. I didn't like the starburst because it had a skeleton minute hand, and made it very difficult to read.

My pin stripe: yes, I took a sharpie to the numbers to make it pop. I kinda liked it too.

My latest edition. Really love this one.

Very nice, the Limited Edition models Airwolf is a good choice as it seems to address all conceivable negatives, e.g. No turbine dial, Black bezel, skeleton minute hand or cut off '6'.....

Your silver dial looks stunning. You don't see those often at all. Have you tried a dive pro or black calf strap on uit? I would bet it's gorgeous that way.

As for Willows quote, I agree. The pin stripe is the best in my opinion, but the B-1 will always rule. :lingsrock:

I like the sunburst least. I really like the look of the Raven's rubber bezel but found that it kept getting knocked off kilter under my shirt cuff. The rubber seemed to grip my shirt, thus twisting the bezel (I have not had this problem with my steel bezel Skyracer). I sold my Airwolf Raven because the bezel wouldn't stay in place and because I found the case-back very uncomfortable. But if you're not going to wear it under a dress shirt, you may not have an issue with the bezel.

Personally, I'd pass on the Airwolf altogether and get the latest Aerospace.

- greater water resistance
- super light an comfortable
- less expensive
- more functional bezel
- no sunburst dial or skeleton hands
- no turbine digging into the back of your wrist
- great lume / highly legible
- no ticking second hand
- stunning dial / contemporary design
