 video, you won't be surprised if I told you that I've seen it already.

Rumour has it the new F11 M5 won't be blocked at 250 km/h.

Have you seen this?

http://www.bmwblog.com/2011/04/27/evo-n ... m5-on-ice/

or the full version:

http://www.bmwblog.com/2011/03/29/30-mi ... w-footage/

A bit long but so gratifying. Very interesting explanations given by the test driver.

@Jackson How 'bout this symphony?

Awesome car, but I would rather have a reliable Lexus. My buddy has a 06 750 ,and its got more electrical problems than the nuclear reactors in Japan.. I know this site loves Bmw's but I am not a fan of having my car serviced for every little thing, esp when you pay so much for it. I will take the m5 all day up until the warranty runs out     ... I couldn't imagine driving something with that much power, i'd end up wrecking it.

Is that the final body-styling (not the colours, the bumper shape, etc)? :? If so, it looks a little bland to be honest. Shame if it is, because it's no doubt going to be awesome......... as all the M series cars are.

i thought that was something to do with german laws around the autobahn and they have to be limited. dont think its that expensive to remove the limiter tho

That should be the final body-styling and I think that it was intended from the start to be "bland".

There are no laws, it's more like a gentleman's agreement. And it is broken from time to time. Porsche, Alpina and some AMG models, to name a few, do not abide by it. It is tolerated as far as it concerns a few models.

BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz came to an agreement to electronically limit their cars up to 250 km/h in order to avoid a general speed limit ban like it exists everywhere else in the world.

That's awesome to hear! I'll have to live vicariously through you then

You mentioned options, just make sure the engine is on the list and you'll be fine :superman:

Hmmmm, I always like the idea of M's cars styling to be "discrete" - no Max Power magazine style ironing-boards bolted on the boot-lid, etc - but the styling on this latest M5 really does look too much like the standard 5 to me. Don't get me wrong, I really like the shape of the new 5, but to me the M model should always be very distinct and sporty in it's own right. Maybe it'll look better in the flesh once those bumpers are coloured to match the bodywork.

Exactly. It does have some bigger air intakes but they are not very "visible" because of the anti-spy camouflage.

http://www.bmwblog.com/wp-content/uploa ... -12111.jpg

They are indeed larger than on the outgoing E60 model which means that: bigger intakes = better cooling = more powerful engine:
