As I just signed on to the BS boards, it might be fun to tell about my -very modest- 'Ling history.

It started 9 years ago when I decided to go for a Chrono Colt Quartz. Being a student at that time, it took me a while to save up enough money, but that made the experience of finally buying it even more special. The person at the AD I bought it at was very kind and I managed to get my Colt Quartz with a 15% discount. Pretty good start right? :)

Flash forward to last year. Even though I had loved (and still loved) my Colt Quartz every single day, the thought of buying a new watch became stronger. It didn't have anything to do with the little dents and scratches that now were present; they just added more 'character'. No, it had to do with me growing up and wanting a (sorry fellow CCQ-owners  ) more manly watch in terms of size.

After getting my girlfriend on board ("you can have a new 'Ling if there's enough shopping budget left for me" ) the game was on! I visited the AD's in my area, picked up the catalogue and bookmarked the Breitling-website. Months of contemplation resulted in a shortlist of favored models: the Breitling for Bentley GT and the Navitimer World. Another stop at my favorite AD brought me right back to earth... The GT was imo stunningly beautiful but priced accordingly, and for the price the AD offered, the Navitimer World somehow just didn't do it for me.

I was back to square one and had to rethink the whole thing. Going over the catalogue once more, I was drawn to the Super Avenger. It felt like the perfect solution: both it's size and price-tag matched my criteria. The only downside was that it kinda had the same look as my Colt Quartz, albeit a lot bigger. However, I could buy it to satisfy my need for a new 'Ling, and sell it after a couple of years to go for the GT was my thought.

As in every great story (not saying my story is a great story, but you catch my drift  ) there is a twist... Two weeks ago, I stumbled upon the website of an AD I kinda forget to check out on earlier "quests". It turned out they were selling their Breitlings for very interesting prices because they were in the midst of moving to another location. At first, I was disappointed when I spoke the salesperson on the phone. They had just sold their last Super Avenger. Asking what models there were left, he named a few. Most of them weren't what I was hoping for. Models with dials in colors I don't prefer, that kind of stuff. But then he caught my attention with two words: Montbrillant Legende. He told me the list price plus discount for this watch and affirmed this was a watch with a black dial (besides size one of my other preferences).

That day seemed to never end (I called from work), but finally back home I had the chance to identify the Legende, based on the list price that the salesperson told me. Turned out it was the Montbrillant Legende Limited Edition, stunningly beautiful but normally way over budget. However, with a price like this, it was even cheaper than a Super Avenger minus the 15% discount I was aiming for! Last weekend I visited the AD and was struck with the great looks of this full 'Ling. To sum up the outcome: I bought the LE Montbrillant Legende yesterday :D :cheer:

What do you guys think? Did I do ok? The thought of getting the GT still lingers a bit, especially now that I have a great watch to trade. On the other hand, I don't wanna tempt fate considering how lucky I've been. Plus, there are some that don't consider a BfB a real 'Ling, so that keeps me from pulling the trigger on that one. On the other hand, I do like that the GT is waterproof and therefor a little bit more suitable for wearing it without worrying about heavy rain etc. Would love to hear your opinions on this matter!

Now if I can find out how to post some pictures (this is only my 2nd post), I will definitely put them in this thread.

Hi raymond147,

Good to know there are more people from The Netherlands on this board (assuming there are more)
In a lot of threads AD's from the UK and US are mentioned, would be fun to share some insights on
the Dutch market as well.

I live near Rotterdam, and you? Would also like to hear if there was a particular reason for you to sell
your GT. I still think that's a great watch to own!!!

i sold the bentley gt because people were looking different at me because with the gt, i work with handicapt persons so a normal job but college's found it strange that i could buy such an expensive watch... normally i really dont care what people think but this was something else, couldnt wear it with pride anymore so i sold it... now looking for a normal navitimer (wich is really my dreamwatch!) on leather strap for a nice price because it is not so "flashy" as a gt, found one last month on this forum but got scammed, made a topic about it on this forum and got my money back, this forum is really first class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shame on your colleagues for thinking something like that. It's a typical Dutch mindset if you ask me, never granting people something they worked very hard for. Why can't people just spend their own money on something they want to, right? But I can see why you sold it, I wouldn't like it either if people would hold something like that against me. Let's just hope you will find your Navitimer soon. It might be an idea to contact the AD I bought my 'Ling at. They didn't have one in store, but as far as I understood, they got watches '*dutch mode on* in consignatie van hun leverancier. * Dutch mode off* If you can get them to order one for you, you will save 45% off list. It's a longshot but worth the try.

And yes, BreitlingSource really is first class, great to have a forum where everyone treats each other with respect.

I'm not sure what the policy on BS about naming the AD's with their discount is, but it's possible to DM you on this matter if I'm not mistaken?
From my months-long search for my 2nd 'Ling I can say it is indeed very rare to buy a Breitling at an AD with a hefty discount like this. As posted above, I think 15% is about it in The Netherlands..

No restrictions.

I would recommend avoiding publicly posting names and phone numbers as they will be inundated, but if you have a good experience with an AD feel free to share - there is a whole section on feedback - viewforum.php?f=7

Congratulations Rem! Thanks for taking the time to share your story, its a great story and one that has a happy ending too. I think of all the possible outcomes, the piece you ended up with was the best one! I really liked the fact that you've had your first Breitling for nine years, that's awesome. You truly used it as it should and by the looks of it, it didn't let you down. The Montbrillant Legende Limited is spectacular and I am sure you'll get many more years of enjoyment out of it. Congrats again and welcome to the forum!
