What is a good price for a pre-loved 2005 Panerai 183 from an AD with a 12 month warranty?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Enezdez

try checking out paneristi.com. both the dealer and collector section should give you a good idea about prices.

I'ld say between $4500 and $4800 if its mint with all boxes and paperwork.

If this a 183G, which I think is a 2005 model, it should read Black Seal by 6:00 and I believe that's the only year Panerai did that. It should also have the decorated movement as well. I think the last one listed on paneristi that shows it was sold was listed at $3900, but I think he may have been able to get a few hundred more since these aren't sold often. I'd probalby pay up to $4200 for it and it would have to be perfect to go up to $4500.

183 is a "starter" radiomir. don't pay a premium for the G version. people want to tout it for more than it is, don't get sucked into it and paying 15-20% extra. it's not that special. pick up a J or K for around $3500 used nrmt/mt.

Thank You All For Your Replies!

The Best Price The AD Offered Was $4,745 + Tax // No Box Or Papers // I Passed On It (By The Way It Was An I Series)

My Thinking Is That A BNIB Can Be Had For $5,900 + Tax // So With A Little Hagling I Should Be Able To Get It For
$5,900 Tax Included And Thats Here In NYC. (It's Only An $800.00 Difference Approximately Between New An Old)

Maybe A Little Better In PA

Or Am I Crazy?

Cheers,

ENEZDEZ

You should be able to do better than that. The 183 is a nice watch (I have one), but it is not hard to come by. If you were looking for a limited production piece or a model that was in very high demand then I would agree that you likely could only get a very small discount. 15-20% off on the 183 can be had, and if you go thru an AD that is out of state then you can save even more.

i'm a little out of the loop on panerai...do they even allow ADs to give 15-20% discount? i know a few years back when it was harder to get you'd be lucky walking out of the store with the tax waived.

if you're in NYC there are plenty of reputable grey guys on the big P that will give you big discount for new 183s on a f2f deal.

I don't know that "allow" is the right word, but I can tell you from experience that 15-20% can be had. I also know of other members of this forum that have purchased from PAMs from a different AD then I do, and they received discounts in that range as well.

No one really "allows" discounts. The ADs do it anyway. The only brand that keeps really close tabs on their ADs is Rolex.

The issue with Panerai reductions is the limited AD outlets available. The are about 6 places I can go to get a Rolex in the Phoenix metro area. 4 for Breitling. Panerai - 1.

A few years back though even Breitling jerked some US ADs' tickets for over discounting and/or grey market dumping. They lurk this site and know about the discounting going on. Pretty easy to figure out where the watches are being purchased, but they aren't doing anything about it.

Rolex watches the sales boards for almost new watches and if they are able will trace the serial # back to the AD. Sometimes they will have the AD produce the sales record. They are rather Nazi that way.
