I'm not normally one to start posts asking "Which one........?" because these decision are usually purely subjective.

However, I am having difficulty in deciding whether to buy a black dialled brand new Cosmonaute or a black dialled NOS Navi Olympus.

The price difference is surprisingly little with the Olly being just £250 more.

With the Olly being NOS it means it has been hanging around for 5-6 years. The Cosmonaute has recently arrived straight from Breitling to the AD.

The final price for an Olly on leather was about £3400 five years ago. The Montbrillant Olympus was a little more when it was introduced in 2006. Can we assume that the Navi Olly would have the same catalogue price as the Montbrillant Olly, ie about £5600? The Cosmonaute price is currently £4300. If this is the case the Olly makes more sense on paper.

I can't split them on desirability.

The Cosmonaute is desirable to me because it is slightly more comfortable, easier to read and because of the history. The Olly is desirable because it is slightly larger and has that amazing four year calendar.

As I understand it they are both considered classics.

Any help would be truly appreciated because I can only buy one.

I'd go with the olympus in a heartbeat Ricardo. There is no way I could get my head around another 24hr dial in my collection if it was inverted from my chronomatic.
Along with that reason the lure of a 4 year calendar would be too much to resist.

On a side note, if you don't by the olly, I might take a drive up to see Sam and buy it myself!

Best of luck with your choice, it's a nice dilemma to be in.

Well I'm not usually one to comment on the 'which should I buy' threads because it is purely subjective, but.....

Olympus, no brainer. If you want a black dial Cossie then pick up a Lemania DB.

A complete no brainer for me also - the Navitimer Olympus all the way.

I owned a Navi Olympus, I sold it, and I regret it. IMO it's one of the nicest Breitlings ever made.

Nothing wrong with the Cossie either, but as Roff said, the DB Lemania version is the one to have.

I usually don't offer an opinion on personal choices either but in this case, I have to agree with the other respondants. The caliber 19 Oly is more elegant and desirable than the standard current caliber 22 flyback Cossie IMO. When I bought my white face caliber 22 Cossie ( to compliment my display back Lemania black dial Cossie) I chose it over a beautiful white face Oly which was available at the time. I regret that decision now because I suspect I would still have the Oly whereas I sold the white Cossie a while back due to giving it so little wrist time. My wife and I both love the moon phase complication on the Oly which gives the piece a true horologically classic appearance. Further, the slightly larger size of the Oly gives the piece just that much more "presence" and it is IMO "dressier" than the Cossie for that reason along with the moon phase. I did love my white dial Cossie but the Oly is indeed a no brainer better choice IMHO. Just my .02 worth of course...
Best,
Ron

PS. BTW, if you do buy the Oly, make sure to acquire the "corrector" tool from your AD for the piece. Much better than a stylus or ball point pen for changing settings. The part number for the corrector is P70.01/02 Hope this helps...

I have to vote for the Olympus due to the fact I think it would compliment your Rose Gold ChronoMatic.

I also really prefer the manual wind Lemania Cossies better. The lack of a date complication seems to work better in my eyes.

My two cents...one duplicates the CM 24, and the other Compliments it verrrry nicely.

Thank You all for Your valued input.

I have decided on the Navi Olly and will be picking it up within the week.

@JimBob. I asked Andrew Michaels and this is the last Navi Olly they have. If they get another in they will let me know and I'll pass on the information to you. If (it's a big IF) I ever want to sell the Olly I'll come straight to you first.

@Roff. Good suggestion about picking up a vintage Cossie in the future. The same thought had crossed my mind. I really like the Cossie due to it's historical significance with Scott Carpenter so a vintage one would make more sense.

@Mr Driver. I have also regretted selling my Navi Olly for awhile now and feel very fortunate to have found another NOS one at a great price through an AD.

@Ron. Thank You for Your personal testomonial and the great advice about the "corrector" tool.

@Thomas. That's a great point about my Chronomatic 24H. However, you didn't know that it was an irrelevant point. I am also in the process of moving this glorious watch on. A very difficult decision but when you see what I am trying to snag you'll appreciate why.

Now I just have to calmly wait for the time to go and pick it up. I can pick it up this afternoon if I want but I'll try and hold out until next week. Sometimes it's good to test our own patience and will power.

The Olympus was most definitely the right decision but you can understand how my eye wandered towards the superb Cosmonaute........
