I was at my local ADs today and they had received a Limited Edition Tag Heuer they had ordered at Basel.

Image

It has a super high price of £8500 but this is the only thing I didn't like about it.

I really like the PVD DLC case, which is the same as the LS model. The glass is chamfered at the sides and looks very bold and very high end in my opinion.

Image

The movement runs at 36000 vph, which means it is very accurate and the seconds hands increment every 10th second.

One of the coolest features is the new patented shock absorber system. It looks superb and is also practical.

Image

The face has a strong 3d appearance. The hands for the seconds and the chrono minute counter disappear under the central section and so both are double ended. Very unique.

Image

Apologies for the quick and dirty photos.

Saw some Basel shots of this and I do like the look - but then I also liked the Zenith anniversary pieces with the stripes too. The price is just ludicrous, but a very unique piece - though Breitling might want their crowns back.

I assume that's using an El Primero base as Tag always used to for their 36,000 vph movements?

I like some of the details on it, but there's also a lot I don't like I'm afraid...... and the price is just one of them!

It is an El Primero base.

I thought Zenith were stopping "lesser brands" from using the El Primero? I recall them saying they would only supply the El Primero to manufacturers that were at least equal or higher than Zenith. Oh, just a thought as I'm typing - I bet that's at least part of the reason it's so ludicrously priced : to keep Zenith happy that it's not gone into a cheap watch!

I'm also guessing that ownership had something to say about it!

I wonder: If Zenith had brought out this exact same design would it have been £8500?

Personally, with their new pricing structure, I can't see it being any more. And I would much prefer to have a Zenith than a Tag Heuer.

daytona every day of the week and twice on sunday. but you have to give it to Tag, this piece is unique and it does look good. I was at my AD today and they had one too. i really liked it. but it its the same price as a daytona then i would way rather take that

But the date on the TAG is easier to read than on the Daytona!

Between that Tag and a Daytona, I might actually take the Tag!

I'm not a particular fan of the Tag AT ALL, but I've always personally found the Daytona to be one of the most over-rated watches in history.

 Oh I agree the Daytona is an iconic thing, but then I guess the Black Death was a fairly iconic disease of the middle ages......and I wouldn't fancy that much either!

I don't know what it is but I just don't rate the Daytona at all, especially for the price. Don't get me wrong, I'd never own that Tag in a million years, but choosing between those two is like choosing between having a cough or a cold! (IMO of course)
