Breitling build quality is comparable to Rolex. Rolexes just have a more exclusive (in-house) movement in them. Both should be similarly reliable and accurate.

Any modern Breitling has a superior build quality than a 15 year old Rolex. At your size, I think the SA is a perfect choice.
If you want to stay with Rolex, check out the Deep Sea. Its their most comparable model.

Yeah right and Bin Laden is alive and well and sponge bathing a very spunky camel right now...

I think he's referring to the build quality of Rolex bracelets and claps 15 years ago. If so he is spot on. The bracelets felt cheap, functioned cheaply, and started to get unacceptable stretch after just a couple years. Now with the "heavy" bracelets and amazingly engineered clasps, they have caught up to and surpased the leaders in bracelets. Namely, Breitling.

I hope he's referring to that (because that's true) but it sounded just a little like "a 15 year old Rolex is crappy compared to a new Breitling" which is so far from the truth I just had to react.

Yes, the bracelet. The cases have always been good.

As for quality: I have a Sub Date 16610 and a Breitling Steelfish. I think the Rolex finish qualitiy is better. But the Pro 2 (or is it II) bracelet is superior. At your size have you considered a Zenith? I have a Defy Classic Aero 46.5 mm without the crown. I love it and it has the El Primero movement!

MrBill,
Thanks for mentioning the Zenith! I did look at it, but it may be a little too busy for me. I am having second thoughts about going from my Rolex GMT IIc to the SA... but I went to another AD and tried the SA on again and still like it very much! i look forward to receiving mine.
Thanks,
Tree
