Is the DSSD (44mm/17mm) the largest Rolex you can get atm?

When I was looking for a fine watch I never really considered a Rolex because I always thought they were too small for my wrist.

I ended up with an SA.

Yes , The Deepsea is the largest they make . I don't see Rolex going any bigger either.

The Yacht Master II is also 44mm

The YM II is 42.6 , The Deepsea is the largest Rolex makes at this time.

Really? You could well be right, I was just taking it off rolex.com, which says 44? Strange.

I think Rolex likes to include the crown , They say the Deepsea is 44 ,and its s really 43.5 We are splitting hairs here , but Rolexes run small . The bracelets Rolex make are on the small side.

Beeper,
Good morning, following up with my answer to your question: I am just a private pilot, I fly 182's and a King air. I find the room in the 182 to be fine except... I could use a little more headroom! LOL. The King Air is awesome. My GMT II is the new ceramic. I actually traded my new Deep Sea fort the new GMT II. I found that the bracelet on my new Deep Sea was too skinny at 22mm and looked pretty silly! I wish Rolex would have made it wider to go with the case, it looked disproportionate compared to the massive case.
It has taken a while for me to pull the trigger on a Breitling due to the fact that I have always had a Rolex. I feel that the Rolex is a very fine piece, and most folks that have them are "brain washed" into believing that they are the best. It is a "cult" following... no doubt. I do love my Rolex, I just want something bigger for my wrist! For me personally; wearing this watch reminds me of seeing a really TALL person with a size 8 shoe...LOL, it is just too small.
I am a one watch guy and do not want to regret trading in a "cadillac for a pinto" if that makes any sense? I think the Breitling is a fine watch! I just have never owned anything else.
Thanks to ALL of you for your advice! I really appreciate it!

I didnt realize you had some current model Rollies. I thought you had the same one for 15 years (I should probably learn how to read). In that case, you have some finely made pieces there. Breitling is definitely not a trade down to a Pinto. I think the SA will suit you perfectly. If you think your rolexes are small now, wait until a few weeks of wearing the SA.

Generally, I've found it mostly a waste of time trying to assess pure "quality" issues at least above a certain level of fine swiss watches. Breitling is definitely above that threshhold, so if you like the appearance of the watch - GO FOR IT.

Thanks to ALL of you for your advice, opinions and support! I am very excited about my new SA!!! I will post some pics as soon as I receive it! I decided to go with the Air Force blue, it was a hard decision between the blue and the white dial; but I think I made the right choice.
Thanks again!

Congratulations Tree on your new SA! Blue is a great choice for your dial and you will be extremely happy with your new Breitling. I for one will not be surprised if FEAR's predictions come true and you add another Ling to your collection

Breitling build quality is comparable to Rolex. Rolexes just have a more exclusive (in-house) movement in them. Both should be similarly reliable and accurate.

Any modern Breitling has a superior build quality than a 15 year old Rolex. At your size, I think the SA is a perfect choice.
If you want to stay with Rolex, check out the Deep Sea. Its their most comparable model.

Yeah right and Bin Laden is alive and well and sponge bathing a very spunky camel right now...

I think he's referring to the build quality of Rolex bracelets and claps 15 years ago. If so he is spot on. The bracelets felt cheap, functioned cheaply, and started to get unacceptable stretch after just a couple years. Now with the "heavy" bracelets and amazingly engineered clasps, they have caught up to and surpased the leaders in bracelets. Namely, Breitling.

No question, the old Rolex bracelet is nothing like what any of the upper-end watchmakers do now. And, while on one side of that I have wondered whether a new-style band can be switched in (I have no idea), I somedays find myself wearing by GMT because of the hollow band. It's now my lightest watch of the four I'm keeping, and if I've been wearing the 'fish, for example, for a few days, my wrist enjoys the break.
