I was saying the same thing, Why would you throw him in the sea? This is way too convenient, wether he was killed Saturday night or a month ago good riddance. But this is all to convenient that he was killed before the re elections to make it look like the Prez is a hero. The Prez is a cool guy just don't care for his problem solving skills.

(1)The televised Saddam execution was a major travesty.

(2)They needed to dispose of the body with the appearance of Muslim belief to avoid even more problems.

(3)No one wanted his body.

(4)You guys are giving far too much credence to the "memory" of the American electorate. Two weeks of news cycles and this is old news. 18 months from now when the next election is held, yesterday's speech will have about as much impact as Michelle's clothing options. 18 months! That's not an upcomming election - it's light years in American political time.

(5)Osama "sleeps wiith the fishes." The Don would approve.

I'm not a big conspiracy theorist so I tend to believe the story, and Bush the 1st had an approval rating of 90+% at the time of the first Iraq war and managed to lose the election some 20 months later so I don't buy into the whole electioneering thing.

I worry about what the reaction might be among extremists, and I'm slightly uncomfortable with some of the televised reactions in the US - I understand, but it has to inflame those extremists even more.

In terms of burial at sea, I understand the need for burial within 24 hours under Islam, and I hope that the burial was handled appropriately for Islamic custom. I also accept that it may have been difficult to find a country that was prepared to accept the body for burial within 24 hours, although I also suspect that an at sea burial was at least in part intended to avoid the possibility of creating a 'martyr's tomb'.

I hope that the whole thing can at least bring some closure to Al Qaeda victims and relatives wherever they are in the world.

One of the major reasons behind violence is now gone, regardless of how it happened. Lets hope the US now pulls out of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Also, seemed a bit far-fetched to expect the supposedly undead Osama to agree to play dead & not scream "you missed morons!" while his terror network's morale is being shredded globally, no?

Some reports are around to prove he died years ago If you choose to believe them or not :wowzers I dont believe any of it no matter what country is telling it.Do you think the US reaction would have been so positive if they said we found out Osama died 5 years ago of a heart attack :?

Just because pictures haven't been released to the world doesn't mean they aren't there. As for his body being buried so quickly apparently in Islam the body needs to be buried within 24 hours and where else would they stick him? I don't see too many countries asking for him. I could be wrong though.

I understand how little of an opinion you have of my country but for some reason I don't see them faking this.

Its not just your country its all countries that lie to the people

What will all the comedians will do now for jokes, being as Osama is gone? Sad time for the Comic industry, I guess they will have to pick on fat people in the front row again.

Really I'm not amused at the lies that those in power feed us that we are all supposed to believe without question.

Too convenient for whom? It's been almost 10 years we've been hunting him down. If it had happened two months before US elections maybe. But that won't help Obama to get re-elected.

For starters, the 10th anniverdary is in 5 months from now. Then, they didn't burn his body. The operation was carried out by Navy Seals from a US carrier. They returned to the carrier after the success of the operation (not even one wounded). Their orders were to catch him alive. But they shot him because they were fired upon. And they brought him back with them, where DNA tests were executed. Then, the body was cleaned and a US muslim sailor carried out the last rites. It's only after that that the body was put to sea as they would have done with a US sailor in a white linen. And maybe it was quick for you but that's what islam says. If they hadn't proceeded that way many muslims around the world would have protested. And if they had done so on shore, his tomb would have been a source of pilgrimage.

But it doesn't surprise me the least that there are and there will be people who would doubt that. It happens frequently in history: Elvis, JFK, Che and now Bin Laden. Or, like it's Bush that brought down the Twins because he wanted to get into Irak.

Nobody said that you're supposed to believe without question. But question just on the basis of your right to question, I don't see the point. But that's because it's Americans that got him, so you question.

I say it's time to celebrate as islamists celebrate when they kill Americans and burn the American flag.

Of course, this American success won't change a thing in the war against terror.

I have no more confidence in the credibility of info emanating from political bodies than do you, Sonyman. But knowing that does but lead me to conclude everything is a conspiracy. Indeed my general belief is that governments are so inept that most of the bigger conspiracy theories are silly - they just aren't that good at anything. There are no great shakes to come out of getting Osama - it took 10 years to get a guy who lives in tents and caves. Personally, I found last night's "Miracle On Ice" celebrations almost embarrassing. I don't see a feather to adorn the President's cap, just another example of how inept government can be.

This isn't a knock on the men and women of the military either - bumbling governments waste little time screwing up objectives. Clinton's crew had declared Osama #1 on the hit list in 1998! In that same year they had him square in the crosshairs of a Predator drone. And no one gave the friggin' order.

For me, he just gave the go-ahead. Willingly? Heck, his middle name is Hussein.
