I have just taken the plunge and bought my first Bretling ..from Ebay. I did some research and despite what everyone says I bought from a seller who has only sold one other item and the pictures are not that clear.

That said I do think this is a genuine sale - the seller has used her own name in her user id and she can be traced on other social internet sites (Linked-in).

I haven't got the watch yet so must wait to see what it looks like and what's with it - the ebay listing states the warranty and instructions are included.

So getting to my question is this a watch that is a known model to be faked?

Hi Renny,

It looks ok but I would want to see better pics to be 100% sure. Its only in that last decade that the Chinese have had the tooling to produce good Breitling copies and they concentrate on contemporary models. So for older models like the Antares World, if looks right it, will be real.

I've never seen a fake, but you are a braver man than me buying from those photos.

Whilst it would be tempting fate to say there are no Antares fakes about, I've never seen one. And the fakes of this era were very poor compared to the near 1:1 replicas which now exist of some models.

Pics aren't great but it looks OK to me. Welcome to the club!

My fingers are firmly crossed although I think I have the fall back option of returning it and involving paypal and ebay if it is not genuine.

I've never wanted a bank holiday weekend to pass so fast!!

Looks real from those photos.

It's arrived yippee!

It has warranty papers and from photos you will see it is the real deal. I also called Breitling in the UK and they confirmed when they last serviced it.
