Hi again

I'm looking for a Colt Quartz (most likely)/Auto/GMT second hand. I've familiarised myself with dial and hands (and ref nos) etc so hope I don't get caught out with a f a k e but what else should I be looking for and asking?

Scratches? Dust on the dial? Servicing? Battery? Timekeeping? Case? Papers?

Most of it is just common sense, make sure that the condition is as advertised, make sure that you get all papers (or that the price is adjusted accordingly), check the service history and again adjust the price accordingly.

hang around here, you will find what you are looking for. The benefit of doing so is to not jump on anything right away. let it sit there for a bit, and if it has any odor of being fake, one of these guys will spot it and call it out.

Always check the functions, day/date movement, and crown tube (screw in/out). Last could be a weak point on divers. Check the caseback for deep scratches that indicate DIY opening of the watch and check the dial, it must be clean.
