Not sure which Miyota is in there, but there is a very good comparison of the 'workhorse' Miyota 8215 which it probably is with the ETA 2824-2 here - http://www.17jewel.com/two.html

Thanks Roff. Anyone else have any experience with Miyota movements?

Personally, I'd go with something swiss. Nothing against Miyota, but it doesn't even have a hacking second hand... It's a little primitive by comparison.

Yeah, I saw that. I probably will. For an extra $200 I can get something with an eta inside it and probably a lot better quality overall as well.

i just bought the laco 42mm today with the 2824 movement (about double the cost of their miyota). i've never had a stowa, but i can say the laco is at least on par with debaufre/steinhart in term of the finish and the case material. it was very reasonably priced since i live real close to their only us distributor and didn't have to go through all that euro/shipping thing.

this one has the sapphire crystal (instead of mineral), and a sand-blasted finish to the case.

I really like that, it's just what I'm looking for. It looks bigger than 42mm though.
